  1. Christ on a crutch... If I'm going to pay a baseball player anywhere close to that amount of money, he'd better average about .400, hit 75 homers, drive in 175, have an OPS around 1.900, and win the Cy Young award every year over the life of the deal.
  2. The issue with that is, you pick a neutral site, let's say Phoenix, in advance. Then, you wind up with a Seattle/NY world series. So the teams finish up the LCS, then fly to Phoenix for 1 day, then fly to NY for 2, then Seattle, then NY and back to Seattle. It's impossible. You can't start with 1 and end with 1 and 1. The NBA went 2-2-1-1-1 at one point (and may still do) with no problems. I know the NHL still does 2-2-1-1-1 for the Stanley Cup. Wouldn't be an issue for the WS. It just adds a couple extra off days. So then with all those off days you're ok with the World Series lasting well into November?
  3. I do too. You don't need to wait till mid-November to make the decision.
  4. I really don't see the need in showing up your opponent. You hit a home run. You've hit them before, and you'll hit them again. Jog around the bases, go high-five your teammates, and sit the hell down. Don't sit there and admire it. I liken it to the NFL player who scores a touchdown in garbage time and celebrates like he just won the Super Bowl. Of course, the media focuses more on individual performances than it does on team play, so a long home run is more likely to make SportsCenter than, say, a manufactured run.
  5. I don't believe they can. I think I read somewhere that there was a clause in his contract that stated the Reds can't deal him until sometime in June if they picked up his option. Edited to add: This is where I saw it: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2007/10/dunns-option-li.html Its a no trade clause until June 15th. I'm sure by spring training he'll be wanting to get as far away from Dusty as possible. If Dunn signed/filed the appropriate paperwork, would he be able to get that lifted, or is that a Player's Union thing? It can be waived by the player. Thanks. I just wonder what Adam Dunn's true feelings are.

  7. That seems pretty steep for a shortstop on the wrong side of 30.
  8. But if Lou didn't move him out permanently then, what makes you think he will if Soriano does it again?
  9. That whole lawsuit was BS anyway. Baseball statistics are public domain.
  10. Good for them. They're in the midst of an EPIC hot streak. I think the Red Sox match up better against them than Cleveland does, and I think a Boston/Colorado World Series would be a very good one.
  11. It all depends on if the Reds GM lets Dusty call the shots like Hendry did. Would Neifi, Bynum, Macias, etc have been around nearly as long as they were if they weren't Dusty's pets? Although I blame Hendry just as much there for giving Dusty these toys knowing what he'd do with them.
  12. Well, the Reds just got easier to beat.
  13. I'd do it. Although would they take Murt/Marshall/Fontenot?
  14. Of course he's going to deny it. Not that I think he's going to go, but what else is he going to say?
  15. 15 interleague games in a row? Have we ever had a stretch like that? And I'm suprised we go to Shea so late in the year.
  16. Say what you want about Stone, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't pick up Trachsel's option.
  17. I wouldn't hate Kendall as a backup to Soto if the price was right.
  18. Tampa for some reason has six days in a row listed of playing the Cubs, so we're assuming that they haven't decided which trio of the two is the real series. Gotcha. Thanks.
  19. You might see more of their action coming via trades. Just a guess at this early date. I don't see them paying $30 million a year for A-Rod. The protracted sale of the team probably will factor into things, but McDonough has given me every indication the team will be able to upgrade. Remember, people thought the Zambrano deal was dead, and it got done. Lets hope one of those trades involves Trachsel. Any word yet on why the Cubs would pick up Trachsel's option, when he was hardly ever used and had little value to the team during his short stay? LOL! I highly, highly doubt that. Take THAT, optimism!
  20. I think Hendry is desperate for his trade to pan out, and is therefore giving Trachsel a chance to redeem himself, therefore redeeming Hendry. I still think it sucks, but unless Hendry is legally [expletive], this has to be the only explination.
  21. What's this "series A" and "series B" stuff against Tampa?
  22. Oh.My.God. This has to be a mistake. Right. Say it's a mistake. Please. Pretty please... with sugar on top. Jim can't possibly be THIS dumb, can he? Any time the question is "Is Jim Hendry really this dumb?" the answer is always "yes." I know. Never ask a question that has that obvious of an answer. Still, to quote my 7 year old son- Trachsel sucks. You'd think an adult could figure that out. Yeah, that's really sad. Your kid knows that Trachsel sucks, yet a grown man getting paid a very handsome salary doesn't. There are little leaguers on just about every field in America who know how to play sound, fundimental baseball, yet major leaguers getting paid millions don't.

  24. This is why Hendry should be fired immediately. If Steve Trachsel is on this team next year, Hendry should never be allowed to work in baseball again.
  25. Yay! Just under 6 months until the fake rallies start again!
