  1. Just par for the course on NSBB. If you don't like someone, insult them!
  2. Ouch! Yet another scathing retort. I'm wounded. Help me.
  3. It was sometime in 1992, and I think Lloyd McClendon hit a walkoff, bases-loaded double to win the game. Andre Dawson also singled that day. It was pretty much the best day ever. I'll never forget seeing the ivy in person for the very first time coming up from the concourse. It literally took my breath away. I sang with Harry Caray during the 7th inning and my dad bought me a t-shirt from one of the vendors outside after the game. On the way home we stopped somewhere for a steak dinner and got home about 1030 at night. Did I mention best day ever?
  4. This guy probably will never make the majors, but he'd be a great story if he did. Why? He's the great-great-great nephew of Shoeless Joe Jackson. He's currenly a catcher in the Royals system. http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fandom/post/_/id/8823/shoeless-joes-name-lives-on-at-the-citadel
  5. I'd have used him on 6-7 days rest at several points throughout the season, or just skipped some starts entirely in order to save him for an October run. The Nats were pretty recognized as serious playoff contenders by people this year, so I don't think anyone would have blamed them for thinking long-term. This is going to blow up in their faces if they make an early playoff exit.
  6. That's interesting. He's pretty much the opposite of a "Packer guy" but their backfield is brutal. Yeah, I don't know if his antics will go over well, but hopefully he can behave and give us at least an average running game.
  7. Give me a [expletive] break..... Maybe the spite fence can be erected again. Also, I think the Cubs split between US Cellular and Miller Park. Logistically, I just can't see it working out to US Cellular hosting 162 home games.
  8. Yeah, I think that was a pretty good trade.
  9. Yeah, he's 33 and due a boatload of money, but of you're a team looking for a front end starter, assumign that the Phils opt to unload him to a claiming team, all he'll cost is money. As of now, we'd be the 4th in line behind the Astros, Rockies, and Padres for any NL waiver claims. He'd be a very risky claim, as the Phillies could very well just unload the salary, and 25MM for his age 34-36 seasons is a hell of a lot. Still, it is tempting. If we did claim him, and they unloaded him and his salary on us, we could sure use a front end starter. However, judging by our organization's willingness to eat salary, it could be an interesting possibility to claim him, and if they dump him and his salary on us, we could wait until the winter or next spring to trade him, and pick up up half of the salary for a very nice prospect package. Why handcuff ourselves even further? We're looking at 2015 before we're competitive, so Lee isn't going to do us much good.
  10. It's not like this was our last chance to trade him, guys. There's still a waiver deal (unlikely), but also the winter meetings this offseason. Remember: We have a competent front office now from top to bottom. Everything is going to work out. Breathe.
  11. How often does Baseball America update the Minor League System rankings? I'd like to see how far we've risen with the deals we've made this week.
  12. If the guys are a few years away, I'm ok with that. Just so long as they can contribute in the future. I'm all about building a strong farm.
  13. I'd be content dealing him in August. Question, because I'm dumb: If the Cubs put him on waivers and a team claims him and the two teams fail to make a deal, he can't be put on waivers again, right? garza is absolutely not going to clear waivers I didn't say he was going to. I said "if a team claims him."

  15. Kind of spitefully satisfied that Demp wont be able to go to LA after all the crap he pulled.
  16. @OldHossRadborn I once told the owner of the Grays I refused to be traded to certain teams and he laughed at my insolence and then shot me.
  17. Oh, to be a fly on the wall in Theo or Jed's office right now...
  18. Hendry would have dealt him two weeks ago for half a sandwich and a "get out of jail free" card.
