  1. Lou said Howry already made it, which we all knew ould happen. He's going to be the 7th inning guy. So Lou doesn't want to hold close leads in the late innings? Interesting.
  2. Wow. I work with a guy with MD. He's awesome. He can still talk and has full use of his arms, but he needs those arm-crutches things to get around, and one of those motorized scooters when he's in the store.
  3. They've regressed back into Dustyball.
  4. The mental errors are quite disturbing. That crap better stop soon. Ballgame.
  5. Chruchill's playing? I thought he was dead. And British.
  6. God dangit. Please get well soon, DeRo!
  7. 1) Stay sharp 2) Stay healthy 3) Call in a bomb threat to work so I can watch Game 2.
  8. I feel good about anyone we could play in the 1st round. Webb/Haren/Johnson scared the Howry out of me.
  9. I like Lou's logic. The bullpen will probably be more active in Game 2, and then with the off day for travel they should be rested for Game 3 on the road, where Z is King. Sure, he's not pitching his ace first, but he's got numbers to back him up. Let's hope this doesn't work out like "saving Z for game 4" did.
  10. Have fun golfing, Ward.
  11. There's no reason ANYBODY should be striking out 200 times per year, high OBP or not. your baseball knowledge is definitely in the bottom 10 percent of this board And you're a borderline troll who should have been banned long ago. And, seeing as you're a genius, would you care to explain to me why it's a good thing that they're striking out 200 times per year? Care to tell me why with runners on the corners and one out, it's ok that he strikes out, instead of putting the ball in play and perhaps getting the runner home? Yes, when you strike out you avoid the double play. But that is worst-case scenario. If there's not a runner on 1st, a strikeout isn't any better than a ground out or a fly ball. At least with a fly ball or grounder, you can possibly advance the runners. With a strikeout, barring a dropped 3rd strike, they don't. It's simple, really. So, care to tell me why it's desirable for a high OBP guy to strike out at disgusting levels? Seeing as that's the position you're taking by rebuking my argument. I'd be quite happy to hear it.
  12. Yeah, knock out one of your only two decent hitters (Ibanez being the other.) That's brilliant, guys.
  13. Yea... all that isn't going to happen. if it does get PPD...then they will have to play monday though They may or may not have to. Depends what happens in the rest of the games. Probably will need a makeup Monday, though. Oh man. This is setting up for a veritable explosion of hysteria among Crew fans. Mets 1/2 game up on the Crew. It's Monday the 29th. Lou fields a team consisting mostly of our bench, the Mets win, and Milwaukee goes nuclear. Yeah, well, Lou's obligation is to the health of the Cubs, not the happiness of the Brewers. And I believe the Cubs should flat out refuse to go to either game, even if it results in a automatic loss. A unnecessary road trip right before the playoffs, is not something the Cubs, need to be interested in doing. LOL. No. And what about when Selig says that the punishment for not going is forfeiting a game in the playoffs? Not realistic, you say? Neither is the notion that the Cubs would even consider refusing to play a game they're told to play (and which settles the wild card) So then what's to stop the bench players from going out there and half-assing it? I'm not condoning just outright refusing to play, but it would seem kinda pointless. Go out there, let the scrubs play, don't play a single regular, and then listen to Brewers fans piss and moan and whine. I don't care. Do what's best for the Cubs, period. Isn't Houston like 3 1/2 back of the WC? Seems like the Magic Number to eliminate them would be right about 1, right? I'm not thinking we're going to Houston again this year.
  14. There's no reason ANYBODY should be striking out 200 times per year, high OBP or not.
  15. Ronny's probably loving every minute of it.
  16. If this is the rotation, I predict that Lilly won't make an appearance in the NLDS. He can start game 2 in the NLCS, then.
  17. LA seems like they can pretty much cakewalk in at this point.
  18. That sucker is getting framed and going on my wall.... after I read it, of course.
  19. How bad? Left the game Please be ok for the playoffs, DeRo.
  20. True. But we all know how Z is. He gets hit a little bit in the playoffs and he's liable to melt down and have a nightmare inning. It's just discouraging that he's looked poor in his last 2 starts since the no-hitter. It's not exactly entering the post-season on a high note for our ace. This should be a warm up start. If the Cubs lose, I don't care. I DO care, however, that our ace got battered again.
  21. Ok, you all remember it. September 23, 1998. Cubs vs. Brewers at County Stadium. Two outs in the 9th, and an easy fly ball to left. Brant Brown drops it and the Brewers win. Where were you when our playoff hopes were almost dashed? I was sitting on my couch, watching WGN TV and had Pat and Ron on the radio. I was home from school that day because I had knee surgery the day before. I'm pretty sure I had some vicodin in me as well. I'll never forget Santo screaming like he had been shot.
