  1. Out of four leagues, I won both my h2h leagues, and finished in 3rd in a roto. We won't say how I did in the other roto league.
  2. Other than the sweep in Milwaukee, they usually play us tough. Braun and Fielder freakin KILL us. Although we can hang in there against CC, and if the offense is patient we should be able to get to their staff, assuming both teams make it that far.
  3. There aren't enough poets or enough words in this or any other language to accurately describe the beauty of Wrigley Field.
  4. I'm down with this idea, but you know what's another keen idea........how about constantly be up by 4 or more runs every time Manny is up. Bases loaded in the 9th with 2 out and Cubs up by 4? Walk him.
  5. PLEASE don't let him kill you like you let Pudge kill you in 2003. When in doubt, WALK HIM!!
  6. Oh God, me too. I don't know if I'll be able to make it until Wednesday. Game 1 will be like Z's no-hitter from the 8th inning on. I'll be hanging on every single pitch. Only it'll be about 10 times worse. And I won't be sort of rooting for the Cubs to have a quick offensive inning so Z can get back out there. The bats can take all the time they want to in October.
  7. This will probably get me flamed, but I'm rooting for you guys in the NLDS. A Cubs/Brewers NLCS would be epic.
  8. Hopefully it keeps Manny in the yard.
  9. I thought I was screwed because I work until 8 on Thursday and Saturday.
  10. Well, here we are, boys. We've waited since Opening Day for this. In some aspects, we've been waiting for this team all our lives. It was a hell of a regular season with a ton of memorable moments, but none of that counts anymore. Right now, the magic number is 11, and if the Cubs reduce that to zero, we'll all go on the biggest benders of our lives, and tell our grandchildren about it (the Cubs winning, that is. Not the benders.) For Game 1 in the beautiful monument to all things right and good, Wrigley Field, the Cubs throw Ryan Dempster http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6006.jpg 17-6, 2.96 ERA, 1.21 WHIP Opposing the Cubs will be Derek Lowe http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/5801.jpg 14-11, 3.24 ERA, 1.14 WHIP I've got nothing against Derek Lowe, but I hope the Cubs beat him like a rented mule. I get chills thinking about the 2003 NLCS, hearing an entire stadium, and even the crowd out on Waveland Ave singing "Go Cubs Go" and I want to hear that again this year. Let's get it done, boys. Let's beat these guys!
  11. What time on Wednesday does the game start? Has that been announced yet?
  12. Same here...But the season never really ends. The off-season is always interesting... Yeah, but it always sucks not having a game to look forward to. After the Super Bowl is really depressing, because I couldn't possibly care less about basketball or hockey, so I don't really have anything else to look forward to. It's a running gag with my wife and I. In the dead of winter she'll ask me "So.... how many days until Opening Day?" And the sad thing is, I'll usually have an answer for her.
  13. I dont think that Lou will let it come down to that. He knows whats up with Bob. No crucial situations for him. I disagree. Lou put Howry into crucial situations plenty of times during the season. I don't see why he won't do it again in the playoffs. If Lou really "knows what's up with Bob" then he wouldn't be on the playoff roster and would be replaced with Wuertz or Guzman.
  14. Once Laura gives me the OK, I'll throw it up there. Assuming I'm starting Game 1, that is.
  15. Penny is in the pen for the Dodgers. Lowe at Dempster Billingsley at Zambrano Kuroda vs Harden ?? vs Lilly Yeah. I read a release on the Dodgers' MLB site that said Kershaw will work out of the bullpen and that it could be either Maddux in Game 4 or Lowe on short rest, though it said that Torre doesn't like to use pitchers on short rest. If they're gonna start Maddux, they'd better start him in LA.
  16. Has anyone grilled Lou on his usage of Howry when guys like Wuertz, who have been far better this year, barely even get to warm up?
  17. I wish I was as stupefyingly incompetent as the current crop of MLB umpires and still be able to have a job.
  18. Pretty good considering his horrible April. If you take out his April, what's his ERA this year? If you take out his first four starts (the last two in April were pretty good with 6 innings in each and 1 and 2 ER's allowed), his ERA is 3.65. Solid.
  19. Pretty good considering his horrible April. If you take out his April, what's his ERA this year?
  20. Either/or and they clinch at least a WC tie.
  21. He blew up Alderaan without too much effort.
  22. It's the "you never know" factor that worries me somewhat. It's almost invariable that a team you don't snuff out when you have the chance will come back and trouble you somehow. See also: 2004 Astros. Yeah I can agree with that. If all the pitchers pitch to their potential I don't think any team can compare to the Brewers rotation. Three pitchers who could easily post seasons of sub 3.00 ERA. I doubt they pitch like that though since they all have their issues. you can say the same for Harden, Z, and Dempster. Harden and Z, yes. Demp... maybe. I'm still not convinced that this is anything more than a career year for him and he won't regress next year.
  23. Lou said Howry already made it, which we all knew ould happen. He's going to be the 7th inning guy. I'd use the Shark in the 7th over Howry. Where the heck is Wuertz? Why isn't he out there pitching? Wuertz is still alive?
  24. The offense doesn't bother me so much as the mental errors do. BTW, any word on Soto?
