  1. It amazes me that people think the argument that Hendry completely abdicates his job to a subordinate is a legitimate defense. Not a complete abdication, no. But he does listen to his managers and tends to go out and get the players that his managers want, often times at a big detriment to the team. Look how long Neifi, Bynum, Macias, etc stuck around because Dusty wanted them here. If Dusty hadn't wanted them, do you honestly think any of them would have ever seen playing time in a Cubs uni? It's important for a GM to have a good working relationship with his manager, but there are times he just needs to put his foot down and say no. Hendry has made some dumb moves independent of his manager, but he's made some dumb moves because his manager wanted him to as well.
  2. Isn't there some sort of rule that a player has to be in the minors for 10 days before being called back up?
  3. I actually use citalopram. But, yeah. Khalil? There's an app-- er, a pill for that.
  4. Hopefully it lights a fire under Hendry to try and get approval of it from the Trib/Ricketts and to re-start things with Towers. Like it was already mentioned it gives guys like Ascanio, Wells and Patton a little more time up to prove something and maybe makes 1 of them a little more attractive in a trade. The only thing that would "light a fire" under Hendry would be a 20-foot tall pile of donuts.
  5. Jim, just admit you messed up. Stop trying to justify it. You're only making yourself look like an even bigger idiot, and with you, that's quite an accomplishment.
  6. What is everyone's obsession with Khalil Greene? He sucks. Except for 2007, he's always sucked, and he will continue to suck for as long as he plays baseball. We have enough sucky players on this team. We don't need any more. He's decent defensively, but do we need another guy who can't hit? Would it help if I put it in green font? Sorry, it's just that there are so many legit Greene fans around here that it's hard to tell when someone is being sarcastic.

  8. Will Fox be available for PH duties? Is he even in Chicago yet?
  9. Is it sad that I remember vividly, each of the guys playing for the Cubs that he's used the last two days? I'm going to cry if he starts breaking out some of the late 70's - early 80's guys. Not sad at all! These are the players from my youth . . . I loved these crap players! I was so happy when we traded Danny Jackson for Steve Buchelle. Buchelle didn't do too bad at first, but then completely fell off a cliff and was a complete embarrassment on the field.
  10. Sanchez grounded back to Marshall. Is that one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse I see coming down the street?
  11. We will never get Freddy Sanchez out again. Ever.
  12. We should care, because this joke and a half determines home field advantage for the World Series. Which we won't get to this year, so it can continue to be a joke and a half.
  13. Kerry Wood is always welcome on any Cubs team. Kevin Gregg is not.
  14. I don't know. I'd have to think long and hard about that one.
  15. I remember that. That was him? Geez. Although, I think the ball was going to hit one of those lovely ladies. I'd have at least asked for her phone number for saving her life. ;)
  16. Cubs in the World Series this year? When :pig: :pig:
  17. And there it was. Really smacked the crap outta that one.
  18. Why don't you just ask them to score 30? It's about the same likelihood.
  19. I'm comforted by the fact that they really can't get much worse, can they? But then I remember they're the Cubs, and I get even more depressed.
