    The most frustrating thing about it is threefold: 1) Something needs to be done about it, pronto 2) Nothing major can really be done until the ownership situation is resolved. 3) Even if it would get resolved tomorrow, we still have a bottom-5 GM at the helm who would probably just screw it up anyway.

    Why couldn't the Twins have taken Mark Prior? Because that would have been far less soul-crushing. Don't you know that? Although if the Twins had taken Prior and the Cubs Mauer, Prior would have 3 Cy Youngs by now, and Mauer would be languishing in the minors somewhere.

    Exactly If I were Gerald Perry, I'd be sweating bullets right now. Not to say it is or it isn't his fault, necessarily, but the ax is going to come down sooner or later, and it'll probably be squarely on him.

    If he signs, this smacks of typical Cubs: Sign a player who used to be good years after he ceased being even the least bit effective.

    Please, propose your changes. Do you have anything besides firing Hendry and Lou et al? I'd love to bring even just one gamechanger of a player, but who is out there? Where can they play? First, get rid of the guy who paid Aaron Miles $5 million. Also, this team is such a rats nest of incompetence and NTC's that it would take a genius to repair it. What would really change by firing Hendry? Who is out there to take over that would be so different? Hendry has his share of mistakes, like that contract, but just how bad this offense has been as a whole can't be pinned on him or anyone else besides the players. i love the people who cry "fire hendry" as if that will magically rebuild our farm system, undo the bad signings and turn the cubs into a 120 win a year dynasty. It won't. This mess will take some time to fix. But, if we fire Hendry, we can take a step in the direction of rebuilding the farm, stop giving out some of the worst contracts in baseball, and stop trying to build around certain "needs" percieved only by Hendry (guys who can catch the ball, leadoff hitter, getting more left-handed, etc). Are you suggesting we keep him?
