    Even if they worked from the first day that Chicago weather will allow it to the last, that'd take longer than a season, don't you think? Let's say season ends October 1, they would have 18 months to do construction. Even though that's two winters, its probably possible with enough determination. Playoffs?

    If Bradley is traded, I think absolute best-case scenario is a garbage-for-garbage trade like Hundley for Karros and Grudz in 2003 and hope we get lucky again.

    I doubt it. Everyone knows the Cubs are desperate, and will treat Hendry as such. If Hendry pulls of anything even remotely decent for Bradley, it'll be a miracle, partly because Bradley is a nutcase and few will have anything to do with him, and partly because he's Jim Hendry.

    That was mentioned somewhere. Doesn't make any sense to me. I think it was Bruce Miles who said that they wouldnt want to risk offering arb. God forbid. What would the Cubs be on the hook for, minimum, if arb was offered?

    It all depends on if he wants to stay here. If he wanted out, all he'd have to do is complain loudly enough publicly enough for long enough, and the Cubs would pretty much be forced to trade him. Z doesn't seem like the type of guy who would hold feelings back like that.

    I don't see the Cubs moving out of Wrigley Field. I could see a 1 or 2 year rennovation project, however, in which they play "home" games at Miller Park or The Cell, or a combination of both.

    Hey. He was traded for Ken Griffey, Jr. One of the greatest players of our generation. He's got to be good if the Reds got Griffey for him 10 years ago. And yes, OMC, this would be the ultimate Cubs move: Sign a guy who used to be good a long time ago but is worthless now, and then the front office crows about the big-name FA we signed and how they're trying their damndest to win. Did you even read the rest of the thread? Cameron is not worthless. Even if you were ignoring his defense, he's still average. That wouldn't really make sense because Cameron has pretty much been the same hitter for the last 12 years. He's old, that's about the only mark against him. There are far better options out there than Mike Cameron. Or, certainly far better options out there for the money he'd sign for. If Hendry makes it public he wants a guy, he won't stop until he gets him. Unfortunately, it's never the right guy, and he always ends up overpaying. I suppose if all the better OF'ers become too expensive and Cameron is the best option left for us and he signs for a reasonable deal, I'd be ok with it. I'm just afraid with his age and inevitably declining skills that he'll get massively overpaid and start to hit the wall the second the Cubs uniform touches his back.

    And to think, after April we all thought he was washed up. Glad I was wrong. DLee is a great guy and I wish there were more like him. No, "we" didn't No, but anyone who says the expected this is a liar. That, I'll give you. Don't pretend like I was the only one who thought Lee was done for after April. It had been 12 full months since he had been any sort of productive by that point. There were many, many people here who thought it was time to cut him loose. I was one of those people, and I am I ever glad I was wrong.

    Because the pressure is off. It makes no difference if they win or lose at this point. The more important the game, the greater the chance of the Cubs crapping the bed.

    I guess it would be an interesting debate: What would be the bigger loss? Pujols off of the Cardinals or Lee off of the Cubs? In terms of overall talent, Pujols is obviously far and away the better of the two. But, if Pujols and Lee are taken away, i think St. Louis has the better offense and would suffer the least.

    Nice to see that he can actually produce at the Major League level after so many injuries and setbacks in the minors. Shut him down. No reason to risk injury in meaningless games.

    I'm not sure. That full year of suckage is still hanging in the back of my mind. He's probably got 2-3 really good years left, and after that I think it's time to go.

    If Pujols wasn't out of his mind this year, Lee would get a good number of MVP votes. I shudder to think what our record would be without his bat in the lineup. If you give MVP to best player, then Pujols gets it. If you give it to the player truly most valuable to his team, it still may be Pujols, but Lee would take a good number of those votes.

    I can't bring myself to do it. The Cubs are like family to me. No matter how much they piss you off, they're still family and you love them, even though the mere sight of them sometimes makes you rage.

    It frightens me how many people here were salavating over this guy this past offseason.

    the park certainly helped, but he was still really good. he's shown he can get hot and putu p big numbers. the problem is, most years he doesn't get that hot. also, iirc milton had a ridiculous babip last season I do think there is something to the whole "contract year" phenomenon. Not just with Milton, but with tons of other guys as well.

    I've never been a big believer in clubhouse chemistry. Hell, the 1970's A's dynasty would regularly get into fistfights in the clubhouse. But, all rules are off when it comes to Milton Bradley. He's the exception to the rule. The man in a cancer and a nutcase and the sooner we cut him loose the better.

    Looking at the box score.... once again I see we gave up runs in the next AB after scoring them. I think over the years that is the single most maddening aspect of this team for me.

    I'd offer him arb and see if he bites. When he's on, he's one of the top 10 in baseball.
