  1. Glad Lilly looked good tonight. That can't hurt the trade value at all.
  2. Rammy's made some good contact today. I thought for sure he had at least a double back in the 2nd inning.
  3. Truffle how long have you been in Australia?
  4. Did Len have some dental work done? It just seemed like when he was on camera during the pregame show he was talking more out of one side of his mouth. I could just be imagining things, though.
  5. In all likelihood, Ted's last Cubs start. Raise that trade value, Teddy! Oh, and something about Brett Myers and his domestic troubles.
  6. He was going to give the old "pie in the face" to teammate Wes Helms and tore the hell out of his knee. He may require surgery and be out 6-8 weeks. Helms drove in the game winning run in the 11th inning of Sunday's game over Atlanta, triggering the celebration. Florida has now banned that celebration after Coghlan's injury. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5412671
  7. Well Ted, enjoy your last start as a Cub tonight. And let me say an early thank you for your solid contributions for the last 4 years.
  8. Apparently your sarcasm detector is malfunctioning this morning. I haven't had my coffee yet.
  9. Not really all that stunning. If he'd not had that horrible slump the first half, he'd probably excercize FA, but he probably feels he won't get as much on the market and hopes to have a good year next year for one last payday. I'd still shop him and see what we can get.
  10. And also stop acting like a petulant child and stomping around all pissed off on the mound when he gets squeezed by the ump. Z is the very embodiment of the term "Million Dollar arm, ten cent head."
  11. I'm just wondering if everyone is waiting on everyone else before they make a move, realize that nobody HAS in fact made an offer yet, then we'll see a mad dash on the 30th and 31st. Or people are actively negotiating and we just haven't heard about it yet.
  12. OT, but is the trade deadline 4PT EST or Midnight this year? I hope it's midnight. Not only does it give the GM's more time to swing a deal, but one thing I always loved as a kid was waking up on my birthday (August 1st), turning on the TV and seeing all the guys who got traded.
  13. Well, when a man and a woman really love each other, the man.... Nevermind.
  14. A #4 starter for Jayson Werth? Really? Silva for Werth! I'd kick in Wells, too. Get it done, Jimbo! Werth is a FA after this season. I would not "kick-in" Wells. Any trade I'd make would hinge on Werth signing an extention.
  15. Agreed. They could have gotten one hell of a lot more for Haren, one of the most underrated pitchers in baseball. You really don't hear as much about him as you ought to.
  16. Go Rangers. They've had such a moribund franchise for so long that it's nice to see them finally having a contending team. I like the Angels but I hope the Rangers hold them off. Still will be nice not to have to face Haren any more.
  17. Maybe someone should call the CPD and ask for a wellness check for those guys.
  18. Jacob Turner and Rick Porcello are the two players in their system I'd kill to have. Turner would have to be a PTBNL since he can't be traded until some time in August due to the fact that he signed less than a year ago. Otherwise, their system is pretty nondescript. Quite frankly, I don't think that package could net either of those players unless the Cubs kicked some serious money to the Tigers, especially considering Ramirez's $16m 2012 option would kick in when he got traded. I doubt the Tigers would trade Porcello for ARam, considering that Inge would be back later in the season. Lilly's the most likely to be traded out of the three listed, and I don't think he'd net Turner or Porcello. Who's the current Detroit DH? Could Aram or Inge be moved there once Inge returns?
  19. A #4 starter for Jayson Werth? Really? Silva for Werth! I'd kick in Wells, too. Get it done, Jimbo!
  20. Honest question: How much further could he project? On the one hand, his skill set doesn't seem to leave much room for massive improvement. I don't think he's ever going to draw a lot more walks than he does, and he'll add some power but will never be a great power hitter. On the other hand, guys who can excel in the major leagues at age 20 tend to be elite players. It's a really exclusive club. Maybe a really good #2 hitter (Jeter-esque) when he peaks?
