It only costs them 6 million to keep him next season. Shouldn't everyone not named Castro and maybe Pence be available off of that roster? Sure, in theory. But for the cost to them next year, they'd be hard pressed this offseason to sign someone who would be as productive for as cheap. Yes, they're not going to win the division next year, but they don't want to set records on futility. If the Yankees offered Montero+Joba, I'm sure they'd take it, but why would someone overpay that much? Granted I don't know much about the prospects in the 2012? draft, but I would think if I was gonna be bad I'd go for horrible bad. Granted their m.o. isn't to try and build from within, so who knows what they will do. Plus Brett Myers is a horrible, reguardless of what he does as a pitcher. I don't know if anybody knows this, but he beats his wife.
