  1. Did you know that Wrigley has also hosted 6 World Series? Cubs in 45. Did the Sox play there in 59? What other years? One was the mentioned 1932 World Series game 3 where Ruth called his shot Nope, he was pointing at the Bud Light vendor. Duh! ;)

  3. I don't see any way that is possible. Being serious, and not trying to stir things up here. Yes, Wrigley is older, and it's one of the crown jewels of baseball. I love watching games there. That said, Busch has been the host of 6 World Series and more playoff games than I can count without looking it up. It has been the destination for millions of fans from a multi state region. It was a centerpiece in the mid sixties downtown revitalization of St. Louis. I don't want to start another who is better than who debate, but you can't say thay Busch doesn't have an amazing 40 year history.
  4. Cubs off season. Sign Damon 5yr 60mil Sign Furcal 5yr 55mil Sign Burnett 4yr 45mil Trade for Ray King This is of course my wish as a Cards fan ;)
  5. How 'bout the Land of the Rising Sun? That was my guess. He already has the stats for the HOF, and I think he just wants to play somewhere that the fans love him. Japan fits that bill. Super small parks = lots of homers.
  6. It will just make it sound like a bigger deal when they "stretch" to sign a big name and break the 95+ line on payroll. If they can't sign a big name it gives them a fallback. If the right player(s) are there, they'll go after them, but they probably won't get into a bidding war.
  7. My jaw dropped when he said that. The #1 coldest thing Bats has ever said. Awesome stuff. This is me with a very very drunk Jim Lee. :) http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cneseman/DCP_2839.jpg
  8. Good to see we're keeping it classy today.
  9. I think we just uncovered another comics fan on the board ;) You bet....As we speak, I am currently reading both the "House of M" from Marvel, and the "Infinite Crisis" from DC story arcs... Comics book are just great. Now Batman .v. Wolverine.......now's that a battle for the ages.....heck, let's throw down the gauntlet, Doomsday .v. Wolverine. Awesome! Reading that and anything Warren Ellis is writing these days. Check out http://www.comicgeekspeak.com for some great comic discussion.
  10. HA! I figured someone would see that ;) I was just trying to come up with a catchy headline. You guys and gals have proven to me that you're great fans and good people. And if I hated Cub fans I'd have to hate my own family. :ughug: Now back to my new hatred of the Astros fans/trolls...
  11. Cards Talk has been over run by Astros Trolls. It's sad when I have to run from my home team forum to get good baseball discussion. Once again NSBB saves the day as a Troll free zone.

  13. You really think there's going to be a sweepstakes for Sosa's services? I wouldn't be shocked to see him go unsigned.... My guess is that he plays in Japan next year. With McGwire, like a circus act. :D Throw in Raffy, and just think about the gate reciepts...

  15. ARod is the tallest giant. Both amazing players, but ARod's skills in the field give him the edge. I would prefer Pujols at the plate in the clutch, but you can't deny that ARod is one of if not the best players ever at his natural position.
  16. Yeah, he's kind of like the Braves. Until the witch is dead you can't bet against him. I just can't let my self think good thoughts about Bonds.
  17. 1) I agree. 2) I agree. 3) I don't have 5-year splits, but the 3 year splits show that Pujols has been quite a bit better than A-rod over the last 3 years offensively. Probably enough to make up for A-rod's defensive value. ARod puts up Pujols like #s, and he's a Shortstop! Yeah, I know he's playing 3rd, but I still think he's the best SS on the Yankees...
  18. Barry Bonds is washed up. (No more magic cream) Lee had a better season, but Pujols is miles ahead the last 5 years. ARod may be the best player of this generation.
  19. I think you might be right, but for that ticket price I hope the Cards are smart enough to take a pass. As a Cubs fan I would hope that you folks don't want Hendry to make a preasure signing like that. Furcal is a perfect fit.
  20. I'll give you that one. Pujols=Best Hitter ARod=Best Player
  21. Not me. The Cards got beat by the better team. Good teams make thier own luck, and the Astros did it 4 out of 6 games. I'm glad the Cards made it to the NLCS. No shame in that. That said, I hope the Sox win because it would be cool to see a WS winner in Chicago.
  22. Right now, Oswalt is the best pitcher in the Majors. Heck of a #3 starter huh...
  23. hmmm. Interesting. I don't see that unless it's for young pitching or maybe Cano +. Edmonds is a fan favorite, and Walt would have to pull a bigtime trade to sell that one in St. Louis. I know Cub fans in general hate him, and I can see why, but he has been at the center of some great Cardinal moments. That said, if you can get a high return for him, now is the time to do it.
  24. I agree....... last night wasn't nearly as painful as I had imagined. Maybe we're becoming immune, like Braves' fans? I think you mean a lefty to go with Flores, not Reyes. I'm wondering if Tyler Johnson could be the second lefty in the pen. He's almost unhittable as a lefty when he can find the plate. He was REALLY good the 2nd half of the year at Memphis, and he's still only 24 years old. I'm hoping Reyes is back in August. After the butt whooping they took in the Series last year, this year was easier to take. I think my heart is a little scarred over from last year. That, and I still have the Sox to root for. well, looks like it's time to change my sig...[/i]
  25. The top 2 guys I would like to see the Cards sign, and I'm being realistic. Brian Giles and Scott Eyre They're going to need an impact bat in right field, and a lefty to go with Reyes. I think Sanders and Grudz will be back, but you never know at this time of year. Last night stung, but not as bad as last year. I pretty much believe that you have to be the Wildcard team to win the WS anymore...
