  1. Nefi Because he'll start 140 games this year.
  2. He's in the team photo for sure. I think he'll move to shortstop again at some point. then back to 3rd. then DH till he's 43 and hit 800 home runs.
  3. Maybe that's not out of the question. But .280/25/90 is much more likely. I'll meet you half way and say .290/27/95 I could live with that. "IF" he's healthy and hitting 4th in that lineup 100 rbi should be no problem. As always with preseason predictions it's all about health.
  4. Reports here in Chicago (Bruce Levine so take it at face value) are that Walker won't break camp with the Cubs. It can't be a good situation.
  5. I don't think Pujols has very good #'s against him either. Not many people do. That's what makes it fun. :)
  6. I have to admit that when I go to the friendly confines I enjoy seeing him pitch. I don't really hate him, I drool over how much talent he has. I really hope Dusty doesn't ruin that golden arm of his. I've changed my prediction that Prior and Pujols will be the historic match-up the 2000s rivalry. Big Z vs Albert are the at bats I look forward to now.
  7. Is he 28-years old again too? No, but he's healthy (they say), and I don't expect .314/34/124 but .300/30/100 and a gold glove isn't out of the question. If you add that to last years team, that's on heck of a boost. I hear people can still be productive at age 31.
  8. Where's the love for Nefi and Junior Spivey??? Rolen is going to have a Monster year (hopefull prediction). I think this is the first time he's really been healthy since the near MVP year of 2004. I tell you what, you look at any version of the teams posted here and realize how good this division is. The NLC has some serious talent.
  9. I hate him. He's that good.
  10. Except for the fact that Zambrano is already better than Buehrle and that he didn't pick a #5. Buehrle vs Zambrano is up to debate. The difference in leagues can skew some of those numbers. You're right. Buerhle has pitched in what over the last few years has been the worst division in baseball. That really needs to be taken into account and held against him. I dont know the stats so if i am wrong i apolozige, but It seems as if The Cell has also been a better hitters park the last few years then Wrigley. I think Zambrano is a little better but they are very very close and its not that absurd for anyone to say they would take Buherle. What he said. ;) And it really doesn't matter because neither one of them is better than Carp. ...runs and hides.

It's really a case of 1 and 1A. They're both solid #1s. As for #5, any of those pitchers could have great years.
  12. yeah, my Dad will not be happy. Looks like fun Sunday dinners again this spring...
  13. I'd guess about 5th. Yanks/Red Sox/Angels/Mets... They have the largest payroll in the NLC. I think the Cards is around 90.
  14. We have a winner! Imo this is the most accurate breakdown of the 2 teams starting staffs. Bottom line, there are 10 pretty darn good to great pitchers to choose from.
  15. Well, the Pirates do have the streak to keep in mind.
  16. If the Cubs don't offer him more than 3 years then Z will be gone. I would think that they are smart enough to pay up.
  17. At the rate things are going, I would guess... 5yr 70mil or more is going to be Z's first free agent deal. Young, big, DURABLE, filthy stuff. He's everything Burnett isn't. If the Cards signed him to that I wouldn't flinch. I see him being one of the very few pitchers that will deserve that kind of coin. Get ready, the Cubs have a very big truck to back up.
  18. Payroll didn't go up much because it was a terrible free agent year. I'm in the group of fans that were glad they didn't spend 70 million on Burnett. If in the next couple years they refuse to sign any higher end free agents I'll start to cry foul. Till then, I'm glad they're not spending money on bad contracts.
  19. I think it will be a hitters park June-August and a pitchers park April, May and September/Oct. The wind and warm weather are going to play some interesting tricks on that park. It does look like it's going to be an amazing place. I think that's a competitive disadvantage - I would prefer a park that consistently plays either for hitters or pitchers so you can mold a team to that park. This is of course from a Cubs fan whose team plays in one of the worst stadiums in terms of variability. I agree. But It's a double edged sword. If you have a bandbox then you can't get decent pitchers (Coors) or a pitchers haven, you have trouble getting hitters (Detroit till they moved the fences). This year will be interesting. I don't believe anyone will really know how far off neutral the new park is for a while. And you're right, Wrigley can play really small or really big depending on what the lake is doing.

  21. Why are Cards fans taking a Cubs fan to task for mocking the White Sox on a Cubs board? Because it was always the lack of those kind of posts that made me like this forum. So say that instead of responding in kind. You're right. Two wrongs don't make a right.

  23. You forgot the last thing on the list. - Unveiled the World Series trophey.
  24. yeah, but that's not lee's fault. we're not talking about team performance, we're talking about individual performance. lee's performance last year was marginally better than pujols's, as carpenter's was marginally better than z's. yes, the cubs suck as a team, you don't need to keep reminding us, we know already. It's my duty as a Cards fan ;) I agree that team success is weighed too much in individual awards.
  25. I just said I'd take Z over Carp. Z is younger and still has his prime years ahead of him. On that same note, so does Pujols. It's scary to think we may not have seen the best from him yet. Lee is a great player. On and off the field. If we didn't have Albert on the Cards I would love to have Lee. He is class personified. That said, Pujols is the MVP. Should be the MVP. Will probably be the MVP this year. The problem with the individual awards for players like Z and Lee is that they are tied to team performance. Wins matter, and the Cubs need to win for the truly great players on their team to be recognized. Finishing 4th in the Central is not going to bring home the award bacon.
