  1. From the member guidelines... Can we move past the gay humor? I don't want to be a jerk, but I'd rather talk about baseball here than look at the rivalries forum as a place for bad gay jokes about Cardinal players. We can't shoot back with insults so it's not like you're proving anything...
  2. You're probably right. It's a unique situation because of the 2 teams in 1 city thing. I still think that once you take out the hard core Cub fan, most people in the city like him. My Mom is a good example. She loves her Cubbies but still likes Ozzie because he brought a champion to the city. My Dad is a hard core Cub fan (you'd like him) and he can't stand Ozzie. How the heck did you become a Cards fan? The 69 Cubs broke my Dad's heart, and when he stayed in Southern IL after school he decided to raise his children as Cardinal fans to spare them the same fate. I thank him everyday ;)

  4. So you basically have to be a season ticket holder to buy Cubs Cards tickets? What a bunch of crap. This from the fan of a team that sells their tickets through a scalping front...
  5. He'll forever be adored by Sox fans, who aren't close to making up half of Chicago's population, even immediately after a Championship. I know what you're getting at. The Cubs are the popular team of the city. Ozzie will reach iconic status if the Sox continue to win, and they seem poised to do just that. There are a lot of non baseball fans out there that will love Ozzie because he's latin. I drive 50 blocks down Western everyday, and I see a lot of people wearing Sox stuff, especially around Division. So the Sox need to continue to win for Ozzie to reach iconic status, even after they've won the first World Series in this town in 88 years? That statement alone sums up my point. No. He's already the greatest living manager in Chicago. To reach iconic status the Sox will need to put a couple more years of playoff baseball together. I think they will.
  6. They're saying that the entire season will be sold out by Saturday. btw on the Wood thing, a lot of the posters over there are like me, we really want to see a healthy Cubs team. ...I want both teams to be at full strength when we kick your butts ;)

  8. It depends. If the Cubs are already out of the race by then you should be ok. :thumright: My father-in-law who's a Card fan may go with me, but if he doesn't I'm going to be looking for a Cubs fan so that there will be two of us in the suite. You sound like the Mirror Version of when my Dad and I go to Wrigley. That early in the season should be just fine. It's a friendly atmosphere in St. Lou for the most part. You've been to enough games to know. Of course it only takes one drunk #$% to get things started. Have fun, I wish I was going to that series!

  10. Ozzy doesn't need anyone to fire him up. Just wait Ozzy will wear out his welcome on the South Side soon enough. His team won the first World Series in this town in 88 years. I think he's going to be loved by at least half of the city for a long time. I'm not saying that he's not crazy, but he managed a World Series team in Chicago. He's the only person on the planet that is alive to say that. Maybe he's talking about wearing out his welcome with the players, and possibly even management. The first sign of struggles by that team will be very interesting to see how these personalities mesh. They've all become more and more outspoken after winning. The fans will love Ozzie forever, but the characters could all learn to hate each other. Nothing lasts forever. I look at Ditka and the Bears as an example. Ditka is a coaching god in this town, but there are still people that can't stand him.
  11. I was going to say he looks a little pissed that some strange dude is trying to hug him. When he has an extra ticket to games, I can go on one condition, NO RED! "You wear something blue or you don't go!" :)
  12. That was the last week of the season right after the disasterous trip to New York. He wasn't real happy about the team that night, but I usually know when not to poke the bear. :koolaid:
  13. Another shot from the rooftop. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cneseman/wrig.jpg
  14. This is me and my Dad at a game 2 years ago. It was one of the games against the Reds the last week of the season. Night game on a rooftop in September. Awesome weather, great food and lots of beer. Great time. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cneseman/DCP_2325.jpg

  16. I feel the same way about D Lee.
  17. The Cards only have 500,000 seats remaining for the 06 season. They've stopped selling season tickets, and single game tickets go on sale March 4th.
  18. I don't think I've really heard Hendry talk about extending Dusty's contract. The media keeps saying he should, and I believe Andy has talked the most about Jim and Dusty's contracts. But I would imagine any talk on this subject would satisfy Cards fans. I want Dusty to manage the Cubs forever.
  19. Pretty much anything that falls out of Dusty's mouth is good for a morning of laughs. Then when Hendry talks about extending his contract that usually makes the rest of my day...
  20. Ahem. Oh, he's off the juice. I know that's not the case, but it always seems to be the easy comment. Players are either fat or coming off roids...
  21. Aramis packing it on a little I see... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cneseman/aramis_ramirez_home3.jpg and for a non photoshopped image... http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/ap/CUBS_SPRING_TRAINING_BASEBALL.sff_AZNH101_20060215153743.jpg
  22. Nice! He almost looks as fat as Glendon Rusch!
  23. No he won't but you love planting the idea. But he will. See, it's already funny!
