  1. This is getting beyond the intent of the thread, but they don't need to be stingy with both the rotation and the bullpen to maintain a shot at Harper. Especially since there's a 0% chance Russell or Bryant entertain an extension, and any extension to Hendricks, Contreras, or Baez wouldn't move the needle on their current costs much unless they manage to extend 2 or all 3 of them(extremely unlikely). They've already shown that they will be more frugal with the pen than most of the large market teams. Whether that involves trading for Ramos or allocating a lot of resources for Britton. That seems more likely than a 4/60 deal for Davis. I don't think getting Happ on his final year as their #4 from a team likely selling is on the cheap. It's a weak SP market with pitchers on the wrong side of 30. At some point, locking some of them up is a priority.
  2. No. No. No. No. Right school, wrong player. Meh, the Bears waste a top 7 pick on Ridley while everyone drafts QBs (also Barkley). The best you can do is an avg to undersized, good route runner with Fitzpatrick on the board? Pace would deserve to be punched in that handsome face.
  3. I want them to not give up flexibility beyond 2018 so they can be a player for Harper. Maples should make the 25 out of ST with Carasiti filling in for injuries. Mekkes is obviously the primary guy for 2019. I want them to see what the market is for AJ Ramos before going after a 3yr 42mil contract for Davis and Nicasio as a cheaper FA as Navin mentioned Same thing with the SP, maybe it would be wiser to see what Toronto wants for Happ instead of the FA market. Use the savings towards locking up some of Hendricks, Contreras, Baez, Russell, (or if there's any god) Bryant to long-term deals as well as previously mentioned Harper.
  4. I hate this coaching staff.
  5. I would love to see Matt LaFleur coach this team next year. This Dallas/GB game is setting up to have Rodgers throw for 250 in the 2nd half and come back to win. Wouldn't hate it. I wanted to dismiss it at first, but I heard Florio on the radio the other day suggest that Jim Bob Cooter's name would be an obstacle for him in being hired as a head coach and face of an organization. I thought about it some more and the optics would definitely leave a team open to a lot of jokes. I wonder how much of an issue it would really be. I wouldn't let it keep me from hiring but there definitely is something unappealing about having a guy named Jim Bob Cooter as your head coach. It's also weird how he chooses to officially use his middle name (actually the shortened/nickname versions for both his names) which makes it sound even goofier. I thought about that too while watching that game. James Cooter while not great, sounds much less Appalachian than Jim Bob Cooter.
  6. How many power 5 schools that are 5-1 and not ranked? 1. Kentucky (they should not be ranked).

  8. Cubs win 8-7 with Seal Boy getting the GW PH in the top of the 8th. Contreras and Bryant go yard. Lester gets knocked around in 3. Lackey pitches 3 SO innings.
  9. There's a halfway decent chance he starts next Monday night. And whenever he does start, Bears fans will flock to the stadium and the TV. But it will only take 2-3 disappointing games for all hope to be lost. How the hell did I not notice this post? I even had read past it. I cant wait for the Bears fans to start clamoring for Trubisky's backup. Where's Orton?
  10. Fox will now say the weather conditions were less than ideal for Glennon to do well and Trubisky to come into his 1st game.
  11. It's pretty awesome when a team is down 14 and the opposition is still stuffing the run.
  12. How much more can you dumb down this playbook. Romo thinks this offense is geared towards a mobile QB?
  13. I didn't think anyone could be worse than Quinn or Burris, I was wrong.
  14. Let's see some Jerry Glanville run and shoot now that they're down 14.
  15. I hate the horsefeathering state of Wisconsin.
  16. Bears with no stunts or blitzes against backup OTs.
  17. That was a schooling. I expect similar efficiency from the Bears
