  1. I don't see it with this team, the chance to improve unless 5-11 constitutes success and bringing back Cutler/Alshon might get them there. I'm for tanking next year, getting rid of Fox and hopefully building upon two successful drafts leading to a 3rd one with a high pick. I'm not sold on Pace, fwiw. Unlike Fox, he is worth keeping around.
  2. Fox serves no purpose with this team except to stunt their development.
  3. Don't forget about Allen as well. The more I watch him, the more I like him. Him, Goldman, Hicks plus Bullard is just crazy good. Yep. Allen is my second favorite player in the draft.
  4. He's definitely been mentioned and for good reason, but for me I don't know that I'd even bother trying to make him a starter anymore. I throw him in the pen and try and turn him into a closer. I know that's where he is projected by Streamer and other projections but either way as a project for Bosio and more conclusive results on his Stem Cell therapy, I would let the health of his elbow dictate that. I do want them to go to a 6 man rotation given the wear last year, Arrieta's effectiveness on extended rest, and the fact they should get into the postseason with a 5 or 10 man rotation and keep them fresh for October.
  5. I apologize if this has been mentioned but if the Cubs have been rumored on value players like Ross, I hope they look at Rubby de la Rosa. His fastball, slider, and inconsistency is similar to Arrieta. No guarantees obviously but I 've been enamored with his stuff.
  6. The talent on the score has improved dramatically compared to when I first started listening in 93'.
  7. Kreutz really isn't bad at all and he brings real insight into football, and not just the tertiary insight Mannelly brought. Holmes is good, but he's too nice and doesn't have the sense of humor Terry has. He's the straight man. Terry is super goofy and just fit with Dan well. I'd like to see Holmes get paired with Goff at some point, they used to do some great stuff. I can see McNeil lobbying for the job, but again, he's not Terry, and he could undermine Bernstein. I remember him defending North when Bernstein was going after him during a shift change. I can't imagine them going with McNeil again especially with Bernstein. Goff and Holmes was my favorite combo at the score. They need to give Len an off-season show.
  8. I know Holmes isn't well-received here but he's probably the best fit next to Dan. He's smarter than the other choices and is blocked by constant athletic events in the evening. I'm waiting for it to be some bad former athlete. Olin Kruetz come on down.
  9. Was the failure of Daniel Moskos injury related or a garden variety bust? Arm injury + overdraft.
  10. Bonds Clemens Raines Schilling Mussina Ramirez Sosa Rodriguez Bagwell Guerrero
  11. HCCF is my favorite poster of all-time. Quite a group (not all) of shitty teachers we have here.
  12. I'm not a fan of Jay.Despite his larger sample size, his Babip isn't sustainable as he ages. He's not a line drive hitter with great bat speed and hopefully that wrist injury has healed. With Maddon, projecting a starting 9 is pointless. I expect regression from Jay, I will be curious to see if he does regress if the Cubs would play Heyward in CF. I'm not disappointed they haven't added more, I'm disappointed that some haven't been locked up to longer deals.
  13. Skoug isn't a fluid athlete by any stretch, defensively in the 3 years I seen him at Libertyville HS, he has enough arm strength but he'll be a liability. He's better than Schwarber was at IU. He grades higher defensively than Schwarber but less as a hitter and raw power.
  14. During this year of arms, I find it odd that I love Pavin and Skoug with 1A and 1B. I doubt Smith would fall to 28.
  15. not at all? he was suspended for a year because of the incident, it was already known he broke the girl's face That's the same as a red shirt. Everyone knows the difference between visual impact vs published reports and that impact has ask Ray Rice or Rodney King. They fought to have this tape released and Stoops showed his true character.
  16. I'm hoping somehow Allen falls to the Bears and Watson gets to the point in the late 1st or the Bears in the 2nd.
  17. Bring in the Polian as an advisor especially with scouting current NFL players. Give Harbaugh whatever he would want. I can't imagine Fox coming back.
  18. He got the contract the wanted and that he waited for by taking a lesser deal last year helping the Cubs. Hoping it's around 5/100. If this is their big move, they're still mediocre.
  19. Assuming what he would likely get as a FA, he would be foolish to sell low. Hopefully, he stays healthy and one of Strop, Robson, or my choice with Edwards put the Cubs in a position where they don't have to trade resources for bullpen help.
  20. How the hell did Tampa get Ramos at 2/12?
  21. Not as hard to find when there are at least a couple of them available as free agents currently though. And this is why you are not an MLB GM.
  22. Didn't read the thread but I'm pleased with the move. Soler doesn't have a role as a platoon player, poor defense, and oft injured. If you can get a legit closer without spending 5/75 (which is unlikely with this organization) by giving up this generation's Glenallen Hill, so be it.
  23. My wife is due to give birth today, nothing yet, jealous I can't make it.
  24. That should've been called targeting against Texas.
  25. Emery had 3 years and Trestman had 2 and it was the right move to fire them. Without Cutler and Alshon, what would you expect from this team next year?
