  1. Can a team create a pitching staff of 12 middle relief/1 long relief combined with a AAA staff of options to burn? Day 1: Pitchers 1,2,3 with a long relief available that could be optioned the next day if need be. Each averages 50 pitches. Day 2: 4,5,6 with long relief available. Pitcher 4 goes 4IP, pitcher 5 only goes 2/3rds, long relief (pitcher 13) gets called in to finish 1 1/3 but throws 35+. Pitcher 6 throws 3IP at approximately 45 pitches. After the game pitcher 13 is optioned to AAA. Use the top 9 pitchers for the top 3 days assuming you can pitch them consistently on 3 days rest and skip the 10/11/12 spot when there is an off day? This is a bit of a hybrid of the 8 man rotation and what Tampa is doing every 5th day. If I'm a small market team rebuilding and I have some value with my current SP that I would be better off trading, I would consider it throughout the organization. If you're the Cubs, would they be better averaging 10 mil per on 10 pitchers with 5+ mil per on pitchers 11 and 12 to get to the 110 mil they're approximately spending in 2018? (Or allocate 8 mil per and utilize the rest towards offense) I know there will never be a team that would go to the extreme but it would be fun to watch. Idiotic brainstorming from me.
  2. Somehow the Iowa Cubs put up 4 in the 1st to knock out the SP in 2/3rds of an inning. Abbott has snuck thru so far with only 1 ER with a WHIP of 2 so far.
  3. Meh, I Duke Silvered him.
  4. When can we swear again to stop this horsefeathers?
  5. Obviously it's an idiotic rule. If a player faces the other way or holds up a USA flag upside down, can there be a fine?
  6. I was hoping the improved conditioning would've improved the velo somewhat ala Strasburg (obviously not to that degree) but his velo appears to be the same (touching 93, sitting 89-91). with a feel for 4 pitches. Any uptick in velo and they might have another possible 4/5 guy.
  7. Borden was invited to Wrigley last weekend but couldn’t attend. State rules won’t allow him to workout while he is still in season. That's an idiotic state rule.
  8. Both would be great picks if selected by the Cubs, IMO.
  9. As far as pick 22.... I like Simons, Musa, Brown, or Robinson. Would be disappointed if it's Hutchison.
  10. I'm probably higher on Young than most. From what I seen of him, he reminds me of Mahmoud Abdul Rauf/Chris Jackson. That style of play translates better now than it did 25 years ago. If the main names are gone, I would not be upset. I like him more than Bamba, tbh.
  11. They'll need them a few years from now when Chatwood and Lester become FAs/retire (I hope Kyle is inked to a long-term contract). There's a safety in numbers approach with all the safer lower ceiling/lower risk pitchers they've gone after in the draft and trading for Mills (excluding Hudson and Little).
  12. Disappointed Swarmer didn't pitch tonight, was hoping he'd be in AA by June. I know the Cubs scouting and development of pitchers has been much maligned but Swarmer has the chance to be a 4/5 starter, which is quite improved from his draft profile.
  13. There's no value in that 22nd pick, it might get them to 6 at best. They'd have to include an unconditional #1 next year to get into top 4 range.
  14. I like Porter, but we need to be careful about drafting players with back issues. I'm sure the Bulls will do a full physical and MRI on him. I want to avoid drafting a player who is chronically injured. Porter has a high ceiling, but he also has a low floor (could bust). We all remember how much potential Jabari Parker had, and injuries have taken their toll on him. He's not the same player anymore and that's why Milwaukee will let him walk. I am worried about Porter's health and slightly above-average athleticism. There's the problem with where the Bulls are at and where they are drafting. They have no superstar, no go-to guy, they go safe and they might get a 5th guy in their rotation or more likely 6th-7th man. That does nothing. They need a superstar, they've failed miserably at getting that in FA, they need to do it in the draft. They're probably better off having the pick bust and stay around 25 wins rather than drafting a guy who might help them get to 30 wins. I want them to draft guys with the highest ceilings, if that comes with the biggest risk, it's what they have to do.
  15. Porter or bust, I'd hate to see a low ceiling/high floor pick here at 7.
  16. I'm glad to see Thomas has improved his control from this year to last.
  17. Corey Patterson missed this conversion by one year.
  18. I completely forgot about the foe feature. I enjoyed the fact others could see if you were ignoring them.
  19. When you're right, you're right. GTFO
  20. My next pick to click in the STL driving Hall of Fame.
