1. I hope they've gotten over aught-7 and aught-8. (Cause some of us haven't gotten over '35 and '45.)
2. It feels like ... forever ... so makes sense that this one would spike this year.
3. By ending it in the 10th, didn't have to burn De La Rosa. OH SO HUGE.
4. IT IS THE MIRACLE WE NEVER SHOULD HAVE NEEDED BUT HAVE NOW GLORIOUSLY TREAD WATER FOR YET ANOTHER DAY, SO THAT WE MAY SINK BENEATH THE SURFACE ON SOME DIFFERENT DAY!
5. Hey, I can't get over it either
6. Wait, is that Alex Google nzalez at short? WTH is going on?!
7. Haven't seen this from Jeff Sullivan posted: The Silliest Thing About Kyle Schwarber I don't read anything into it in re clutchness of course. OTOH, the fact that 3 Cubs ranked in his bottom 10 wRC+ by leverage corresponds to the eye test, and to organization comments about "approach" given scoring chances, etc. So yeah, poorly timed impotence has contributed to the limp offense. Hopefully a statistical oddity that reverts next year. (If not sooner.)
8. Injuries. Inconsistent offense. The Yu Ty Experience. Death March. More injuries. Limper offense. Administrative leave. On the cusp of a fourth straight postseason for the first time in franchise history.
9. This team has now become the baseball version of the mid 80s Bears. Al Harris and Todd Bell are not suddenly going to walk through that door...
10. I think of it as a "legacy" hamstring
11. Javy is homering next inning. I feel it. =D>
12. A 2,000-HR pace starting to look... well, not realistic, but fleetingly possible.
13. And a .269 OPS across those 2 WS, so he knows all about showing up on the biggest stage.
14. No 3rd time through the order, that's for sure
15. I see that Bryant and Rizzo still can’t hit these guys
16. Definitely prefer this era of having a chance every year rather than the alternative. Hopefully the Cubs can capitalize again next year. Start the countdown to pitchers and catchers...
17. All we gotta do is hold them and score... 6, 7, 8... eight runs off their bullpen. Cake!
18. Get the triple play and get out of this with just one run, boys
19. Alright alright alright. Simply setting the stage for a ferocious comeback. These Cubs just have a flair for the dramatic.
20. Just make them pack up the champagne and push it to game 6. Straightest line to that result would to be Q going really, really deep into this one, and the Cubs scratching a few runs off Kershaw early. But I'll take anything that results in the Cubs playing in LA on Saturday.
