If Rondon and Strop were fully healthy and trusted, I'd agree. 6 is a lot to go with a patchwork bullpen. (Or 4 bridge + 2 Chap, if that's Joe's working plan.)

Kershaw wasn't short rest. He pitched game 2 on Sunday, then game 6 on Saturday; 5 days rest. There was speculation about having him go game 5 on short rest (would've been 3 days). Still, IMO the more important thing is that beating him on a second go-round is a positive outcome the Cubs hitters can draw on. At least one prominent source also cited Kershaw as short rest, might've been the Fox guys last night?

I think that too. He doesn't scare me as much as Allen, we just haven't found the gaps on those drives We're due for a gapper on him. If not that, a routine fly right between Naquin and Chisenhall has a surprisingly good chance of doing damage.

Edit: That July 3rd start is interesting, it's my birthday first of all, he gave up 5 ER to the Blue Jays in 3.1 and the Indians lost 17-1 Kluber fell to 8-8 then went 10-1 to end the year. He's due for a beat down. Those of us who remember '84 know what it's like to feel confident about a starter on a second-half roll taking the mound in a series-deciding game, only to see it turned upside-down. Toss in the short rest, Kluber is definitely vincible. Same with their pen. It's baseball.

To add here: In a weird way, Rajai Davis may have helped save Chapman for game 7: Davis beats out a grounder in T8 of game 5 despite the great Rizzo snag, with Chapman failing to cover. Lindor bounces one to Rizzo in B7 of game 6, and Chapman beats him to the bag. By a hair. On replay. Maybe he's there in time anyway; but he damn sure remembered to cover last night. Fail to get that out, it's bases loaded with Napoli up. Not saying Chapman doesn't get out of it, but he could've ended up throwing significantly more high-leverage pitches than he did. 20 total, with a handful of them waste pitches in the ninth, is one thing; 30+ that are mostly high-stress are another thing entirely. It could've been a lot worse. (Related: appreciate Rizzo showing the range, but watching that Lindor ball again, it certainly looks like a routine play for Javy if Rizzo just goes to the bag. Hope they defend that better if it happens again.)
