Maybe it was a "need" thing. We already have a ML-ready prospect in Soto, while we might need a replacement for A-Ram in several years. This way, we don't pay a Major League contract to a prospect that might be blocked and we can leisurely develop a prospect to replace a future need. It's a rather longsighted move, which is slightly surprising.

What a bad idea. An 18 year old kid who just signed and clearly hasn't been prepped for dealing with the media. That was absolutely hard to listen to. Bad move Cubs. Good luck to Josh in the future... Sure, he sounds like he could be borderline autistic, but its a shame its not possible to send Cedeno or Pie to AAA and get the kid in uniform by the end of the game. [/ignore]

Correlation does not equal causation. Just because the Cubs won the games with Hill, Hill didn't necessarily win those games for the Cubs.

Carlos was due for a shellacking. As of August 5th, he's was sporting an unsustainable BABIP of .179. That was due to come up at one point, and tonight was obviously one of those nights. He clearly didn't have his best stuff, but still gave up no HR and only 2 BB.

Z didn't need more strikes today, he was throwing up pretty good strikes on his own. Unfortunately, the Reds hit most of those strikes.

Who else are we going to give a shot? What Iowa CF is ready for the majors? Ryan Braun was rated the Brewers' #2 prospect by Baseball America. Felix Pie was rated the Cubs' #1 prospect. It seems like you're hoping we'll catch lightning in a bottle with a lesser known prospect. I believe that while other players (Jones, Kendall) are playing above their heads and with September call ups just around the corner, we can afford to allow our best prospect a chance to contribute.
