  1. That is a very valid point. Yah, that is most likely very true. gotta agree, but i did just have to change my pants all the same
  2. i notice that in Ronny C's line there is no mention of BB, is this an oversight or just a lack of walks by Ronny?
  3. Interestingly, Adams himself is from NC (Raleigh, I believe). One of his songs is "Oh My Sweet Carolina," but it's confusing, because one of the lyrics is "I miss Kentucky and I miss my family." All that said, North Carolina is the greatest state in the nation, obviously. yea, but whiskeytown is in california. we drink corn liquor where i come fromand theres no place better than sweet caroline
  4. nice choice...should be a good show, if i were in Chi instead of NC i'd be there
  5. I have to say I disagree with this. Threads over 30 pages should be archived and a new thread started. No one wants to read this whole thing and you end up getting repetitive posts. MOD FIGHT!! Not really... I know. Just bored at my desk. could be fun though
  6. i agree, not enough! anything under $25m wont even sniff the winner
  7. wow i didnt really expect that
  8. that sounds pretty familiar...DisgrunteledCubsFan is that you? :-k
  9. ding ding ding ding we have a winner
  10. but murton is cheap...although payroll is being raised, there is still a budget. Any FA that puts up equivalent #'s as murt will cost us , willis will cost us...its much more budget friendly to just get a FA pitcher than give up cheap young talent to get willis and pay through the nose to replace the cheap talent we gave up to get willis
  11. Florida? Do you think his ego would accept the league minimum for a salary. Do you think anyone's gonna give Sammy more than the league minimum? If Sammy is gonna come back he better be prepaired to make the minimum and possibly incentives.
  12. not if its grown by a good friend
  13. something about a hooker with an adams apple the size of a cueball...huh? :lmao:
  14. I don't believe that statement is very accurate. He made his debut at age 20 in 2004. In 2005, he made 32 starts. Yes, he missed some time this year, but that hardly makes him "hurt most of his career." He finished with 13. The following pitchers had more losses (I will stress, as I said before, that this is not the best way to judge pitchers): Rodrigo Lopez (18) Ramon Ortiz (16) Jason Marquis (16) Carlos Silva (15) Matt Morris (15) Aaron Cook (15) Mark Hendrickson (15) Zach Duke (15) Jamie Moyer (14) Greg Maddux (14) Jeff Weaver (14) Jake Peavy (14) Kelvim Escobar (14) Felix Hernandez (14) Jarod Washburn (14) A lot of guys must have had really bad Septembers if Pettitte led the majors in losses for most of the year. also keep in mind that Willis lost 12 in '06
  15. good for you Roast, dont listen to anyone who tells you that there isnt a good reason to vote, or that anyone who doesnt vote has a right to complain...it is your responsibility as a citizen to inform yourself and vote your conscience, anything else is a cop out! a "cop out" how? :) Voting's great, really, don't get me wrong. But it has NO value to someone who's not concerned (though informed) about the issues at stake; that's all I'm saying. michael stipe would be ashamed
  16. Nope, he's a FA after '07 Wells is a nice player, but I don't like him for our circumstances. Why are we trying to upgrade CF with Pie in the wings? Anyone? We need a platoon partner for Jones. That should have been done last year. I have no clue if Dusty nixed that idea, or if the organization is just blind to how hopeless he is against RHP. We need starting pitching in the worst way. We need a MIF. We need a bench full of non scrubs. Yes, Freddie Bynum, that means you. Why trade away prospects for a non pressing need when our farm system isn't that deep to begin with? I hope this rumor is bogus. You know they fly fast and furious this time of the year and up through ST anyway. Why can't we have two CF? Why can't Pie play RF? Pie probably should not even play in Chicago this next season anyways. agreed...what if JH can pull off soriano for 2B as well...a frontline pitcher and a journeyman...wow, we could actually win games...any ideas on how this fits into the payroll?
  17. good for you Roast, dont listen to anyone who tells you that there isnt a good reason to vote, or that anyone who doesnt vote has a right to complain...it is your responsibility as a citizen to inform yourself and vote your conscience, anything else is a cop out!
  18. im not sure how you havent found anything to complain about at this point...
  19. I didn't do that. Another poor assumption. so, he didnt edit it(it would be noted at the bottom of the post) yet after being quoted by you it changed from 21 to 6...i wonder how that happened...either way i dont really give 2 ant turds and am removing myself from this segment of the conversation
  20. I agree. People are being way too anal about that comparison and missing goony's very valid point because of it. There's nothing anal about it. There's a huge difference. The insurance that Aramis had makes him unlikely to sign another contract unless Hendry just felt like giving money away. You only sign another deal if it's better than what you have (more money and years). Ramirez had over 30MM coming his way and DLee had nothing guaranteed. You think Hendry was going to offer him more than 3/33M he had left at that point (not to mention the option tacked on at the end)? Get real. BTW, I don't remember having heard or read of anyone saying we should get Ramirez to sign another contract pre-empting the use of that opt out clause. NO ONE. 20/20 hindsight is great. I do remember loads of people complaining about that opt out clause. People saw what was coming. Aramis would play his 2 years, opt for FA if he played well, and get more money. The only way he stays with us for the life of that contract is if he underperforms. Crappy contract for the Cubs. Great for Ramirez. you've only been on this site since Aug 21st. People were talking about it at this time last year. seeing how this was his origional post on your joining date, and that it doesnt seem to have been edited, i'd have to assume that you did a little editing on your own while quoteing him
  21. Not true - on both counts. I'm just going by what on your avatar. And it is true. Any proof? possibly ive lost my ability to read numbers, but it clearly says "joined: 21 aug 2006" right under your avatar pic
  22. Probably sometime at the end of next week (Friday seems to be the latest). Are we even sure we're actually in it? im thinking someone didnt take the time to even skim the earlier parts of this thread I rarely have time to skim anything. so hows college going?
