  1. All of a sudden I need a slushie and beef jerky. See, the sponsorship already worked.
  2. He is a good Manager. He is a definitely a player's manager in that all of the guys on the team love playing for him. However, Pat definitely gets the most out of his players. He is very hands on oriented and makes sure that he is a part of everything in regards to the team. I have seen him work with fielding, hitting and pitching exercises with the players. He's also a smart manager and isn't afraid of being agressive. Something I really like about Pat is how loose he is with his approach to the game. I've been on the field in pregame with Pat before a big game and have Pat talk with me about everything but the game. One night the scouts were supposed to have a sleepover after the game and he looked up at a dark sky and expressed concern that the kids might not be able to have their sleepover.
  3. Cool site. I was hoping to find information on Ripken's 4 minor league issues but the page only listed regular issues starting in 1982.
  4. It's a matter of what you are specifically interested in collecting. Due to the cost of packs and the difficulty of set completion, I would encourage you to take the approach of picking a player or players and focus on buying cards of that player. Buying packs has become a lottery in the sense that the majority of pack buyers are searching for a short printed rookie card or a game used or autographed card. If you're looking for immediate return and/or to make money, buying packs is the way to go. If you're a fan of a specific player and want to build a colelction of that player, buying individual cards or lots of cards of that player on ebay is the way to go. Personally I am a fan of the Upper Deck Legendary Cuts or Upper Deck Sweet Spot series when it comes to baseball.
  5. I have an official Mets jersey I picked up at a Goodwill store for $5. I'll be wearing it tomorrow.
  6. I admit that I am biased against the Vols, but do you agree that Georgia hasn't looked like a top 10 team all season long? It pains me to say this, but Tennessee deserves to be the highest ranked 1-loss team right now. I'd actually put them in the top 5, behind OSU, UM, UF, and USC. No way in the world should they be behind WVU or Louisville (and I don't think the Irish or Auburn should be either). UT has a 1-point loss to one of the top three teams in the country, with wins over an underrated Cal team and now Georgia. Especially considering the close calls they have over the past couple of weeks, it's fair to say they were a shaky top 10. They deserve consideration for highest position among the one loss teams. However, even though their only loss was a 1 point loss to Florida, they did blow a 10 point lead at home.
  7. Vols putting a thumping on the Dawgs, 51-33 There goes that 6.8 points per game defense for Georgia.
  8. Go Georgia, 2 challenges in one game!
  9. TOUCHDOWN VOLUNTEERS 44-33
  10. Wow, the Tennessee offense is doing things
  11. 1) Chris Walker is awesome 2) The HBP was intentional 3) The Jaxx did make him look bad If anyone wants any follow up with Chris, I am sure that he would be more than willing to answer some questions.
  12. It would be tremendous to have AD on the staff. I have a ton of respect for him.
  13. As I mentioned earlier, a great start is gaining a credential for the site. Access to the players means more exposure to the organization. It would also be great to see if some of the front office people would be willing to participate in question and answer sessions as well. With that being said, here's a quick list: 1) Media Credential 2) Placement on any e-mail media releases to be posted on the site 3) Q & A sessions with various people in the organization (GM, Team President, etc.) Tom Hart has already agreed to do a Q & A session. He also said that he plans to register on the site. I know that he and Nathan Baliva have communicated in the past. I am also sure that Ron would put in a good word on the site if Tom asked him about it. Last year, we did sponsor the Northsidebaseball.com Farm Report with the Jaxx. The segment ran in all of the pregame broadcasts during the season. Granted, the sponsorship was as much of a thank you to the Jaxx and an attempt to help the organization than anything else. Tim would ultimately be the person to handle any sponsorships. I am sure their site has sponsorship information. Anything else would be entirely up to the organization. The Jaxx were great in that they allowed people from the site to the broadcast booth over the past 2 seasons, with a full broadcast in 2005 through the auction and 3 appearances in the booth for 2006. I am sure that their organization may have other ideas in regards to how the site and Smokies can build a relationship with one another. I know they have a great group of people in the organization and I look forward to being able to work with them in the future. I'll drop you a PM with my cellular number. Feel free to give me a call when you get a chance. Thanks for your effort!
  14. For only $349 you can get a personalized apology ball
  15. Greetings and I echo the appreciation. I swapped messages with Tom Hart a week ago and he agreed to do a Q & A with the site. Hopefully he will be able to get a chance to register on the site as well. I cannot speak on behalf of Tim but it would be great to have access to the players in the form of a site credential. I have some word documents on file that we've used in the past that I could forward.
