  3. Why was each player traded? How are those 2 situations similar? About the only similarities is that both were traded.
  4. FWIW, Carlton isn't a very good retort as the situations are not similar. I guess you are right. Carlton was a really good pitcher coming off an average year and was traded for a very average pitcher coming off a career year. Brock was a struggling young player who looked like he would never turn it around and was traded for a pitcher who was 30-11 with a 130ish ERA+ over the past two season. those trades were not similar. at the time they were made, the Carlton trade was much, much worse. Never said it wasn't a bad trade but it still isn't a good retort to the Brock trade. As I said the situations are not similar.
  5. True, PECOTA regresses EVERYONE to the mean so I generally don't pay much attention to the predicted W-L records and just to predicted standings
  6. DMB's 2004 prediction for the Cubs 2004 predicted 90-72 actual 89-73 2005 predicted 83-79 actual 79-83
  7. DMB's 2005 prediction for the Cubs Just because you don't like what they say doesn't mean thier viewpoint has no merit.
  8. In Diamond Mind 2006 simulations The Cubs scored 703 runs in 2005, PECOTA projects the Cubs to score 725 in 2006 Both PECOTA and Diamond Mind project the Cubs to have a record of 85-77 in 2006 and that is WITH Prior and Wood making 55-60 starts.
  9. Actually, I would WELCOME this being a viable concern seeing as that would mean that Niefi got 550+ AB's in 2006.

  12. Care to take any bets that the 6th place team isn't within 8 games of the 1st place team? Heck, I'll even wager that the Cardinals win 90 or more games in 2006. edited to fix inability to tell an EIGHT from a SIX (can't even blame it on beer googles)

  15. Its simple K-Town, its called picking nits and blowing them up into giant flesh eating carnivores and thinking those make a definitive and irrefutable case. Unfortunately, its far from definitive and most assuredly not irrefutable.
  16. Same writer who predicts the Astros to win the Central with a 94-68 record and the Cubs to finish .500 and in 4th place. Oh and the Cardinals to finish at 91-71 winning the wild card http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-nlcentral032306&prov=yhoo&type=lgns 1 author 2 articles 4 days apart
  17. he did keep on barking from the dugout. funny, my tape shows differently than yours. You have a little problem stitch, in Sun nite's post you claim NOW you claim you have the tape and the Edmonds was barking from the dugout. Now lets get back to my logic question, if Edmonds was the one who STARTED the barking, then wouldn't he continue barking all the way around the bases? and wouldn't he be barking back at Z as he rounded the bases? So wouldn't the tape that you say shows Edmonds barking from the dugout also show him barking around the basepaths, yet you don't claim that. So which is more likely, a camera focusing on Edmonds trotting around the basepaths when he supposedly started the barking OR a camera focusing on Edmonds in the dugout afterwards as the game on the field is continuing and a live AB is going on?
  18. Hmmm, FSN Midwest, Cardinal station carrying Cardinal game, multiple cameras, instant replay. And lets apply a little logic, if Edmonds is the one that STARTED the barking, is he going to just suddenly STOP? That seems unlikely, so it is POSSIBLE but not probable.
  19. Sorry, not true. I taped that game and saved that one in particular because of several claims just like yours. The tale of the tape is a different story. No posing no words to Zambrano the only words were FROM Zambrano
  20. Sinking like 9-13 ?
  21. Well OBVIOUSLY Chief, they should have been intalling the sod in JANUARY to allow it to be well rooted by early April.
