  1. has Z been thrown out of any games this year? It seems grace is implying that when see has gotten knocked around this year is when he's lost his head started throwing at people and gotten thrown out?????
  2. Grace: "some say that maddux is the best pitcher of our generation. some would say its clemens. They'd be right too." HUH? How is that possible?
  3. Mark Grace is unbearable to listen to. Simply unbearable.
  4. I hate neifi. they need to rename it GINP, he's earned the title.
  5. cbssportsline.com: that's all I could find.
  6. From what I read, and I can't remember where I read it, he's close to pitching to Rookie leaguers so he seems 2-3 weeks behind Woody. Only info I could find but its old:
  7. the latest I've seen, nothing new, except it doesn't sound as optimistic
  8. another bad night? What is wrong with this guy?
  9. Yes, I'm fairly confident that's what he's saying, and that means he doesn't understand averages I would say that taking such a small sample size and stating that will continue for a whole season doesn't understanding averages. Now that, on the other hand, is something that no one has argued. (well, it was not being argued in the part of the thread I replied to. I'm sure someone, somewhere, has done so.) streaks do not average out, they just fade into larger sample sizes
  10. thanks. I'll get right on that. :x
  11. I'm in a Yahoo league head to head, here's my team: C Posada 1B Fielder 2B Vidro 3B Ramirez SS M. Young OF Bay OF Burrell OF Sheffield Util Tracy Bench Roberts Griffey Jr. Pitching Glavine Garland Clement Garcia Mussina Penny Wood Pineiro Isringhausen Dempster DL Miller Pending Trades I give Roberts, get Gomes I give Burrell, get Sheets I'm in last place, I know I'm carrying some DL action in Wood, Miller, and Griffey that I'm hoping pans out for later in the season, but I really don't see why I should be losing every GD week. Am I just blindly looking at these guys with thoughts of previous years in my head or are these legitimate slow starts that will work out in time? What do you guys think of my two trades...I traded Roberts cause Vidro was available and I wanted another solid pitcher. Time to retool?
  12. nevermind, didn't see the thread about the press release....
  13. Is this just a move to make room for another player on the 40 man to help out with the Lee injury or is this a setback for Miller?
  14. from stats.com:
  15. No. Getting on base is the most important thing. What "we" are saying is that hitting homeruns >>>>>>>>>>>>>> causing havoc on the bases. I hate the "all or nothing" argument that goes on here all the time. There can't be ONE most important thing. Isn't it a BALANCE thing? yes you have to have guys that get on, but you have to have guys that mash the ball too, you have to have a guy that can steal a base, you have to have guys who can bunt. Some of these stats are exclusive of eachother, most guys who get on, don't mash the ball and vise versa. I don't think a team of all high OBP guys would work, or all mashers would work, or all speed...etc...BALANCE
  16. That's not the choice. Most first pitches are not great pitches to hit. Goony's right, the first pitch is always intended to be the pitcher's pitch. If he misses and its down the middle great, but its never intended to just be a strike. Stoney has gone on and on about this in games when he used to do color.
  17. When I saw this headline I was sure it would be a teacher from Monroe, LA Teacher sorry for watching baseball in class
  18. Love this from Chris: Priceless. Wouldn't it just make the ball go farther? hmmmm.
  19. that is fantastic!
  20. this is kind of a stretch for the baseball discussion and I've already posted this in the social lounge but I figure it would get more traffice over here. I'm thinking about buying a slingbox so I can watch the cubs games at work on my computer without having to purchase MLBTV. Does anyone have one already and does it work well? Is the stream slow or delayed?
  21. I don't know where some of you are getting your optimism but I don't see it. This team is not exciting, not promising, and not going to do well. Too many holes(SS, RF, LF, 2B?), too many bad choices in the off season (trying to trade walker, signing Neifi, signing Jones)
  22. With the loss of so many veterans and what seems like some internal problems at the Red Sox do you think they may start going young and building a team for a few years down the road? If so, they seem to me to be a fantastic trading partner. They need a young centerfielder, we have one. They need young pitching, we have young pitching. So maybe a deal can be had in which we get Ramirez and Clement back for prospects and maybe a vet or two? If the O's weren't in the East I could see a three way going down involving Tejada. But perhaps that is just the fantasy owner in me!
  23. While I agree with the crap vs crap point, I don't see how this is a downgrade? Defensively jones is better and your numbers seem to illustrate that offensively jones is also better?
