  1. is anyone still getting the game in hd?
  2. did the hd feed just go out for anyone getting it over the air? want to make sure it isn't just me..
  3. christ, real nice. quality human being you are.
  4. yeah, wasn't there a vote recently on who was the greatest latino shorstop? the choices were aparicio, concepcion, and vizquel. i'll take other, please. just goes to show how little the "chaw-spittin'" baseball insiders know about how the game actually works. poor miguel tejada i think alex rodriguez would have a little to say about this
  5. what? why wasn't the coroner's office / the police the party to do this?
  6. these are one and the same. that's what i meant when i said most people like to hear things different than what dusty said - because dusty was a moron.
  7. saying and doing are two different things. lou has proven thusfar that he can say a lot of things that people on this board really like (mostly because it differs from dusty). implementing what he says, however, has been a problem.
  8. i believe the twins only offered arbitration. KC was the only other team offering 3 years. he had a few 1- and 2-year deals on the table from other teams, but obviously chose the 3-year agreement, especially with a team that embraced his hatred for taking walks.
  9. $3 million is nothing to this team, especially one that wastes millions of dollars on guys like cliff floyd, cesar izturis, and wade miller. letting prior simply walk (which i don't expect at all), in my opinion, would end up being one of the biggest blunders of the jim hendry era (yeah, that's big). it's a bit early to speculate on the terms of a contract, but as the tender deadline approaches, we should have a better idea of how his rehab is progressing. to pay him for this year - to get the surgery and everything done - and then let him go just makes no sense to me, especially for a guy with that much talent who's only going to be 27 at the beginning of next year.
  10. assuming the PTBNLs are nothing, this is a great deal by beane very weird for the reds to just give up on him right now - they must really be counting on hamilton continuing to play like he is
  11. I believe I read that Prior won't be even starting to throw again until January.
  12. there is no way, even if he comes back next year and pitches insanely, that he would win in arbitration after submitting a $10m figure.
  13. I don't see why not. They aren't exactly brimming with young talent coming up from the minors and there is plenty of deadwood on the 40 man already. I would do it if Prior agreed to it. and during the season hed be on the 60 day dl meaning they get an extra slot on the 40 man roster. that would allow him to accumulate major league service time, so i don't think that's happening this year (or next). he'll have to sit on the 40-man and on the minor league DL for the cubs to retain his rights for 2009. Does that change his contract negotiations? Can you be a "1st/2nd/3rd year arbitration" player more than once? it's always based on major league service time, so i'd imagine it will just repeat - i think this was only his 2nd year of arbitration (he opted out of the remainder of his major league deal at the end of 2005), so he'd be treated as a 2nd year arbitration-eligible player again, i believe.
  14. I don't see why not. They aren't exactly brimming with young talent coming up from the minors and there is plenty of deadwood on the 40 man already. 15. they pretty much did so this year by not counting on them for anything. i find it a bit ridiculous to just want nothing to do with them - if they can pitch, they'll be good at it.
  16. He may be non-tendered. I think you can't submit an offer more than 20% below the previous salary. That puts the Cubs on the hook for at least $2.8 million in 2008. With no guarantee that he'll pitch. What I am more unclear about is whether his service time is stopped when he is on the DL but on the 40-man. But I don't think he'd be eligible for free-agency until after 2009. he's in AAA, so he's not accumulating service time. he'll be under the cubs' control until 2009 now instead of 2008.
  17. Good. Unless the Cubs can not pay him ace money, I don't want him. It's very strange, but I find myself more excited about the potential to trade Zambrano for some high-end prospects than anything else about the Cubs' season. The sad part about that is that they probably wont even attempt to trade him and he will walk at the end of the year with us having gotten nothing for him. :( Is a possible scenario that we trade Big Z by the deadline for 2 high prospects (either pitcher or fielder). Big Z doesn't like the team he gets traded to, realizes that he'd like a reprieve w/ the Cubs and we re-sign him. Can this happen? Has it happended before? ponson did it a few years back. can't think of anyone on z's level that has done it, though.
  18. you can't earn a starting spot as a pinch hitter.
  19. Oh jeeesh. Dusty sends out Wood and Prior in games 6&7....they both lost. The players lost that series. Not Baker. He was ok for the season...and the series against the Braves.....just that Marlin series eh? Im not a Dusty fan either.....but blaming him for anything and everything....is.....just wrong. uhh, dusty left prior in for way, way too long with a huge lead. the injuries started a few short months after the abuse he took down the stretch and in the playoffs. wood was pushed too hard, too. his injuries started recurring early in 2004. this is not a coincidence. this is directly dusty baker's fault.
  20. this post is awesome. i laughed very hard at it. thanks. anyway, i just find it pretty rude that everyone does that just to rub it in to someone posting a thread (especially when search doesn't work) that "omg i read the board more than you lolz you're stupid for posting this because it's already somewhere else - maybe even buried in an 80 page thread!" but post counts are more important to a lot of people, so whatever...
  21. He is that guy with one more no-hitter than Greg Maddux. are you serious? lol mark buehrle is soooooooo much better than maddux! first ballot hof for sure now with that no hitter! let's vote hideo nomo in, he's TWICE as good as maddux!
  22. small sample size is going on.
  23. just a comment, but this "ibl" thing is [expletive]. omg you got a post added to your count!!! let's rub it in to the poster that it's already posted!!! regarding the article, i was surprised at eyre's presence on the list. wuertz, not surprising.
