Team names in Japan generally make reference to the corporation that owns them. In this case, the Fighters are owned by Nippon Ham. Good thing that DOESN'T apply to MLB cause there would be some off-the-wall names. Names like the New York Fighting Steinbrenners, or the Atlanta AOL Time Warner Braves,etc, etc. Chicago Tribunes!

Chicago Cubs prized prospect has turned 24.. Though he has not yet made it to Iowa, he still could be battling for a spot on the Major League 25-man roster. How far will he get?

I'd rather have a team in Las Vegas or Portland... knocking the Colorado Rockies into the NL Central, and Pittsburgh Pirates into the NL East.

Watching MJ is like watching Babe Ruth... Chicago was blessed... Without him, or the Bulls, Chicago would look even worse at sports. Face it, this isnt really the best city for it.

Poor Grieve.. I wonder how it is to be a player that one day won ROTY (I think) and hit 28 Home runs in a season... and now he's having trouble making it to the majors. I, for one will never forget his catch where he collided with the right field Ivy... He was bleeding to make one out. <3

Wood won't be active on the 25-man until late April-May, will he? How can you be so sure Guzman will make it to the majors? Unless he gets Murton-lucky in ST... SS - Ronny Cedeno. He deserves it. Yeah, Murton is a rookie, but he has proved himself more and more by taking extra time to play winter ball when he doesnt need to. Barrett is getting better at C... See the new article about him at Cubs.com? Blanco is already really good defensively. SP could be fragile.. Although its better than most. Aram will hopefully have an injury-free year. Why wouldnt he motivated? Dempster probably wont turn into Borowski/Kolb. Nothing to back that up :roll: Our real problem: Offensive production from RF...

Based solely on pure talent, I don't think I'll ever see a better Cubs team than 2004. Sosa, Nomar, Ramirez, Alou (at the height of his powers), CPatt (ditto), Wood, Prior, Z, Maddux, Hawkins, Grudzie/Walker (both having great years). The only problem is that many of these players were not playing at their best. I have no doubt that that team would have at least won the pennant had they made the playoffs, especially the way Prior and Wood were going at the end. Let's not forget Zambrano's Cy-Worthy year... He probably would've won the Cy Young Award if he had more wins... of course we had a "fab" offense. 2004 was an awesome team. I had the most confidence going into the 2004 season. That confidence has sort of come back going into the 2006 season, and was the least going into the 2005 season.
