  1. He's been much more than an average recruiter at IU. It's actually been an amazing recruiting job. His in-game coaching is still very questionable though. Amazing is a bit of a stretch. It'll be 3 full recruiting years before he brings in a difference maker to a program that recruits itself. I don't think Indiana really recruits itself anymore. Not on the level of a UNC/Duke/Kentucky. Heck, I think MSU "recruits itself" a little more than IU these days Within the state of Indiana in the very least. I don't even know if I agree with that. I mean, I'm sure Indiana kids like IU, but they haven't exactly been raking in in-state recruiting. Here's a list of the top five kids in Indiana each year since 2002 and where they went. Now Indiana probably wasn't recruiting all of these kids, but still, they haven't pulled as many as you'd figure. If you just whittle the list down to 4*+, they've pulled 6 of the last 35 since 2002. 2002 5* Sean May--North Carolina 4* Dedrick Finn--Xavier 4* Chris Hunter-- Michigan 4* Matt Kiefer-- Purdue 4* Delco Rowley--Michigan State 2003 4* Justin Cage-- Xavier 4* Ken Harris-- Valparaiso 3* Peyton Stovall--Committed to Ball State 3* Stanley Burrell-- ? 3* Dan Cage--Vanderbilt 2004 4* A.J. 3. i wonder if that's because they're constantly hacking or something.
  4. O'Toole was begging to come to KU, and we passed. I think that will be a huge mistake for us. Overall, I'm very happy with KU's class. We even got a JUCO LB who had SEC offers to walk on. The talent and speed should be much improved. Christ, we need it, too. We looked like a HS team last year. Wish we could have gotten a legit DT, but those are hard to come by.
  5. best team in the big 12. i hope we get another shot at you in the conf tourney.
  6. given the state of the program he inherited, that's a pretty glass half-empty point of view. You should definitely be pissed about losing to a terrible OU team, but I think overall Hoiberg has done a good job.
  7. KSU is not good.
  8. i have a gut feeling Mizzou wins tonight. Not an attempt at a jinx. Something tells me Mizzou jumps up and bites UT.
  9. so close...i thought the cats might pull it off.
  10. Yeah, they finally declared him ineligible and Mizzou lost their appeal. The Sun Belt will take partial qualifiers, and the Big 12 won't, so he decided to go there where it's an hour from home. An annoying end to the whole ordeal, but honestly I'm just glad that it's over. Hopefully they can land Porter and McLemore to help compensate. Should have went to KU, they would have found a way to get him in. Either the Dareel Arthur or Brandon Rush plan would have worked. damn right
  11. wow, Mizzou's 5* recruit Tony Mitchell is now headed to North Texas?
  12. so mediocre ole miss is pulling in a top 15 class? sounds like some money must be flying around oxford. http://oversigning.com/testing/index.php/2011/01/20/sticky-for-now/ They're pulling in a top class because they have 29 verbals despite only 15 departures. That's a lot of roster cuts, gray shirts, and bogus medical hardships. KU and Ole Miss were the two finalists for a JUCO QB named Zack Stoudt this year. Nutt promised the kid he wouldn't take any more QBs this year, so he ended up going with Ole Miss. Three weeks later, Ole Miss took another QB. Stoudt was reportedly furious, but since he came in at semester, he was locked in at Ole Miss. I honestly don't know how coaches get away with stuff like that. You'd think they'd start to build a reputation for oversigning and being dishonest, but I guess not.
  13. hmm, now what could cause a bunch of football players to have the same type of muscle damage? Apparently it's an overexertion thing. Stories coming out about how grueling workouts have been since they came back from break last week. If it was steroids I don't think they would be putting out a press release and then leaking what the illness is. which is exactly why they did that. throw us off the scent.
  14. I think Pierson is a big academic question mark, isn't he? I thought I read that both Iowa and Mizzou stopped recruiting him because they didn't think he would qualify. Something happened with Miller too where Iowa just stopped recruiting him after his visit and I think Wisconsin backed off also. i haven't heard anything substantial about Pierson being a risk, but he might be. Mizzou did not stop recruiting him. He re-opened his recruitment because his coach told him he should be playing RB, and mizzou wanted him at DB. Mizzou still wanted him, but ultimately they decided to move in a different direction. Iowa stopped recruiting Miller because he wasn't as good as the other guys Iowa wanted.
  15. FTs were the difference. UT got to the line more, and they made them. Feel for Thomas Robinson. The last thing he needed today was a loss too.
  16. this one is over. hate to see the home win streak end, but this team has skated by too long. Losing the big lead might help us i future games.
  17. nice collapse KU
  18. get ready for an ugly final 12 minutes
  19. Someone on another board put this together, and I thought it was interesting. A list of every McDonald's AA currently playing in college. Italicized players are ineligible to play due to transfer rules. North Carolina: (7) Zeller, Drew, Henson, Strickland, Barnes, Marshall, Bullock Duke: (5) Singler, Smith, Plumlee, Kelly, Irving Florida: (4) Macklin, Rosario, Boynton, Young Villanova: (4) Stokes, Wayns, Cheek, Pinkston UCLA: (4) Lee, D. Wear, T. Wear, Smith Texas: (3) Lucas, Joseph, Thompson Ohio State: (3) Buford, Thomas, Sullinger Kentucky: (3) Jones, Knight, Lamb Georgetown: (2) Wright, Freeman Connecticut: (2) Walker, Oriakhi Tennessee: (2) Hopson, Harris Florida State: (2) Singleton, Snaer The following teams have only one: Alabama: Green Baylor: Jones III Clemson: Jennings Concordia (NAIA): King Detroit-Mercy: McCallum Georgia Tech: Shumpert Illinois: Richmond Kansas State: Judge Kansas: Selby Louisville: Siva Memphis: Jackson Michigan State: Appling Mississippi State: Sidney North Carolina State: Leslie Pittsburgh: Taylor Syracuse: Melo Washington: Gaddy
  20. Keep in mind that Rivals ranks classes only based on the top 20 recruits. So, that means your class is good, regardless of how many KU signs. didn't know that. good news, assuming you're right. the bigger question will be if the staff can coach these guys up. Next year will be another bad year wins/losses-wise, but hopefully we'll be more competitive and poised for a bowl run in 2012-13.
  21. hahaha, Roy was gonzo no matter what happened.
  22. Well, KU has out together a reasonably strong class considering how bad we've been the last two years. We're up to 31 in the team rankings. That's partly because it's a large class, but we've added a ton of speed. Considering we looked like we were running in cement shoes, that's a good thing. Highlights from the class include Darrian Miller (a rivals top 250 RB,) Anthony Pierson (another Rivals top 250 ath/RB), Brock Berglund (15th ranked dual threat QB and the only Q on the roster w/ big 12 talent), 6 OL, and a ton of speed, speed, speed. Miller, Berglund, and Julius Green (6'7", 265lbs DE) are all on campus now, too. So they'll get a full semester in college to prepare. Hopefully Gill and co can turn this class into players on the field.
  23. incorrect, we'd have beaten you a second time for the championship.
  24. I wasn't expecting a win, but I thought we could at least keep it close. If they keep playing like this they will be Top 5 before the end of the month. Texas is really good, and they've been getting better all season. Very nervous about Saturday's game. I'd say that team has the most NBA talent in the Big 12, and somehow Rick Barnes hasn't effed it up yet.
  25. Except for Missouri 0.8 perfect 10
