  1. They're 9 up on the division. Sure, they'll probably lose in the playoffs, but that is future you's problem. Haha I like how your crisis intervention method is to remind the person in distress that the future looks even bleaker.
  2. I'm having flashbacks to...well, to the rest of my life as a Cubs fan.
  3. you guys are missing the point. if we don't win the WS, it is almora's fault.
  4. Because I'm a giant baby when it comes to the Cubs and start panicking the moment we're down one run like it means the season is over, I sometimes have super meatheady hot takes. Here's one I'm super ashamed of, so I thought I'd share it here. I put the blame for this recent Cubs tailspin entirely on Almora's shoulders for getting thrown at third by Molina. If we had come back in that game, we'd have crushed StL's meager hearts, swept their dizzied corpses out of Wrigley, and proceeded to play superb baseball v Miami (not sure why, but since when do hot takes need logic.) So now i just want to see Almora's stupid non-walk taking mohawk sent back down to AAA because he is a blight upon this team, a personified curse, a hideous obscenity slowly undermining the beauty Theo and co have wrought. Feel free to ridicule me for this. I deserve it.
  5. Make the playoffs hasn't been good enough the last 2 years, they've been out after 1 game. To me, it's hard to justify running in mud just to potentially lose your 1 and only playoff game for the next few years (which would be the case if they aren't better than the Cubs). I understand the whole "crapshoot" playoffs thing, but it would be different if we're talking about a division winner, guaranteed a 5-game series. But as long as they're behind the Cubs they face a 50/50 chance of going home after the 163rd game, while they need to beat a Jake Arrieta, Madison Bumgarner, Clayton Kershaw, Matt Harvey, Stephen Strasburg type of pitcher. For a small market team already pushing 90M in payroll and needing to pay arbitration guys in the near future....that's not an ideal scenario, IMO. That's silly. You absolutely keep the pieces in place if you're good enough to be a wild card team. You don't plug the plug and rebuild because you're scared of facing Stephen Strasburg in a wild card game.
  6. I'm baffled by the final ruling. I thought it looked pretty clear that Dexter hadn't crossed the plate before Rizzo got tagged. Len explained during the broadcast that Hurdle didn't challenge the timing of the tag, but whether Rizzo was tagged out or forced out. Hurdle was hoping it would be ruled a force so that the run would clearly be invalidated. I guess the "timing of the tag" question was outside the purview of the ruling? It was pretty weird. thank you. I only saw the highlight, and none of that context was provided.

  8. Would much rather have Montero catching Hendricks. I imagine superior pitch framing benefits him more than any other pitcher on the roster. anybody can catch 87 on the corners though...i feel like Jake & especially Lester need it more with more movement on their pitches Well, Lester is with Ross, so I don't see WC catching him this season. Regarding Hendricks vs the other guys, my take is that Hendricks is gonna need the catcher who can best make his borderline pitches look like strikes. And that would likely be Montero over WC. But I don't claim to be an expert on pitch framing, so maybe framing a soft tosser like Hendricks is easy?

  10. sooooo good. I lol'd when he talked into the phone.
  11. [tweet] [/tweet]
  12. That seems like a lot of starts, especially when you have to keep Ross and Montero sharp.
  13. You expect him to start as many as half the games in the last two months?
  14. We can tell!
  15. why am i this stressed about a game in late may?
  16. any updates on Heyward? Not seeing anything other than he's scheduled for an MRI.
  17. You're doing it wrong. We say MEAN things about Cardinals here.
  18. need a gif of that doughy fan removing his shirt and flexing in celebration.
  19. What happened there? Gameday seemed uneventful. Fowler with a leaping catch, crashed into the wall. Not shaken up at all, though.
  20. He's about as homophobic as you. well I don't think there's a bigger [expletive] in here than you you seem like a fun guy.
  21. If the ump had checked the ball on Javy's double and ruled it playable, would it have been scored a HR or a double and a two base error?
