  1. I'm going to go kill myself now.
  2. So far the premier conference records: Big 10: 3-2 Big East: 0-3 SEC: 4-1 ACC: 2-0 Big XII: 1-1 PAC 10: 3-0 For all the Big 10/Big East hype, so far only a so-so showing.
  3. All early in the season, though. Teams are much different by this point in the year. I think Gonzaga goes out early.
  4. I've filled out 10 brackets, and I have Kansas and UCLA losing in round 1 or 2 in 9 of them. My NSBB bracket has UCLA losing in the sweek 16. 2 real pools I'm in, 5 ESPN brackets and 2 yahoo brackets..I have Kansas beating Bradley only twice and UCLA moving on past the 2nd twice. I am not sold on Kansas at all...hopefully Bradley proves me right. While I'm not looking past the Bradley game, I feel fairly certain we'll beat them. They are athletic, especially for a midmajor, but the jump in athleticism is significant. Also, the rely heavily on 2pt fg, shooting very few threes. KU has the #1 2pt fg defense in the nation. Additionally, while they have two NBA prospects, I don't think either can take over the game. O'Bryant in particular has scored 20+ once all season. Here's a pretty good breakdown of why I think KU will beat Bradley. http://phogblog.com/2006/03/15/preview-kansas-vs-bradley/
  5. The KU bandwagon is out of control. I think they could beat anyone, but it's unlikely they'll play as well as they did against UT in the B12 tourney. I could easily see them losing to PITT in round 2. They're definitely a great defensive team, and they're super athletic. They're also very balanced. However, they're young, prone to turnovers, and tend to go through scoring droughts in each game. And they have games where they flat out can't hit an outside shot. (In the second game against Okie St., I believe they hit ONE jumpshot in the second half. One. Everything else was dunks, layups, free throws, and lowpost moves. ANd it's not like they were scoring at will. They won by a point.) While I do have high hopes, be aware that this team isn't the collection of worldbeaters ESPN has suddenly made them out to be. Just be aware as you fill out your brackets.
  6. If my KU vs Syracuse or Cubs '03 experience is a an accurate barometer, never. Yeah the Cubs one I have pretty muched blocked out. But, then every year since then someone has had to end their drought making me think it was our turn and we just pissed it away because we had to pitch to Mike Lowell becuase we didn't want Lenny Harris to beat us in game one. Thank you Dusty. The KU one, sheesh you have already won once in your lifetime and are very good every year. Some of us have to seize the day more than others. Well, I'm from Chicago originally, and I wasn't a KU fan until I went there (93-97), so the 88 championship "doesn't count" the way the 'Cuse loss would have. But it is nice to feel like we have a chance more often than not.
  7. If my KU vs Syracuse or Cubs '03 experience is a an accurate barometer, never.
  8. That's a ringing endorsement. If it's possible to have worse control than Andy Pratt, I'd like to see it. Did you see Ankiel in the postseason?
  9. Outside of Dee, UI doesn't have much of a goto guy either. And if Dee's cold, it will be real hard for UI to beat the better teams in the tourney. I'm, not sure how they have a better chance than UCONN. As far as Duke...personally I'd want to play them more than any other one seed, Memphis included. As good as Redick is, all it really takes is one bad shooting night. Also, once you get Shelden in foul trouble, the middle opens up (although McRoberts does have beast potential.)
  10. I'm pretty sure Wright will stay, as he has no jumper and won't be able to play the four in the pros. A few weeks ago I would've said Rush would definitely go, but it seems like he's got a lot to work on. he disappearssometimes, and he has trouble creating if you make him go left. However, with the weak draft, he still might be a top 20 pick, and if he is, it doesn't make much sense to stay.
  11. I thought that Illinois should have got a 3 at the worst. yep, we got the ol' joan collins special, like Big Ten teams always do. But they're Duke... Nothing new, typical treatment by Commitee as far the Illini are concerned. With a few exceptions ('89, '01 and '05) they managed to seed the Illini the furtherest form home and in a loaded region. I understand the seeding but, San Diego? The Duke announcers on ESPN seemed to be impressed with BC so they should be ahead of your Illini too. Of course, for that matter, so too Kansas and LSU. Heck, it'll be a minor miracle if they manage to beat the fearsome, near impregnable two some of Air Force and UW. Personally, I would have seeded UI higher than KU, but the resumes do compare favorably. UI 25-6 16rpi 54sos 9-5 vsRPItop50 10-5rd/neutral 6-4last 10 KU 24-7 20rpi 49sos 4-5 vsRPItop50 10-5rd/neutral 9-1last 10 UI has the clear advantage in record vs. RPI top 50, but four of KUs five losses to RPI top 50 came before Jan 1. Also, KU has the advantage in recent play and conference championship. Again, I'd have seeded UI a three, but I don't think it's completely out of bounds to have KU as the same seed as Illinois.
  12. Illinois got jobbed big time. Tennessee...I don't know what happened there. Total joke. That's got to REALLY rub UI fans wrong, too--that Bruce Pearl got such a gift seeding.
  13. Hard to believe that angels blog was full of it.
  14. That wasn't Packer; that was one of the female reporters. I'm guessing he did mean Frank Williams, and I'm curious what he did, too. Can't remember.
  15. Please, please, PLEASE never refer to them as Mizzou State again. Just like the commercials say, there's only one Mizzou. ...
  16. a 7 foot center that can make the NBA in Patrick O'Bryant. If he gets in foul trouble though, Bradley has the tendency to just rely on the jump shot. They are extremely hot though. I think they've lost just 2 games in their last 12 or so. oh yeah, Marcus Sommerville and Tony Bennett know how to shoot as well. I think they are going to give Kansas all they can ask for. How do their guards handle ball pressure? That's KUs bread and butter.
  17. So who can tell me about Bradley, anyway. After last year, I'll never look past a first round opponent again.
  18. 2005: Bucknell 2006: Bradley  (let me dream, haha) I can't even make a Mizzou joke. Too many to choose from.
  19. Two words: Julian Wright.
  20. Hey, after we get Cabrera, we can even afford a slip up or two there. Right Bruce? The rumors are true, right? RIGHT?
  21. If Texas loses tomorrow, I think it's a very real possibility. I think OSU deserves it more than Texas if OSU wins tomorrow, regardless of the Big XII outcome.
  22. KU on to meet UT for the Big XII auto bid. Hopefully we'll play better than we did in Austin.
  23. which players?
  24. If were a program in need of a coach, I'd see what it would take to pry Gilespie from Texas A&M. Excellent recruiter. Good coach. I think he's an excellent candidate.
  25. Nebraska upsets OU. I wouldn't be surprised if Texas were the only Big XII team to make it past the first weekend of the NCAAs.
