  1. Usually that might be the case. But I think Ole Miss really is the best. Besides, even a hater like me would want to see them get to the Miss St game undefeated so America can watch the fans of those two teams turn Mississippi into (even more of a) post-apocalyptic wasteland. Also, I like their defense. And overall, I'm in full-fledged "anyone but K-State" mode. I'd love for a team like Oregon to win it all, but they won't. Of the SEC options--one of which will be the likely winner this year imo--I'd prob want one of the Miss teams just to shake things up. Sucks that OU is terrible and FSU is QBd by such a gross POS, because usually they're my fallback teams.
  2. Those games are generally always close affairs. Ole Miss, even when not good at all, usually gives high ranked LSU all they are worth. The script is flipped this year. I'm terrified of this game. However, LSU is mostly a one trick pony offensively this year. They are 11th in SEC in passing and therefore rely on the run. Ole Miss has the sixth ranked rush defense in the nation (as evidenced by Tenn getting 0 rushing yards on 28 attempts). Nevertheless, this WILL be a close one. However, the Rebs have covered the spread in every game this year, so there's that. Bad news. I've been telling everyone who will listen the Ole Miss is the best team in college football. Usually my endorsement is enough to cause an immediate loss. Sorry in advance.
  3. I really don't get the equal hate for a Team with a rapist vs a team with annoying fans Well, I was rooting for ND--first time ever. I guess I was just saying I was able to find a bright side in the loss.
  4. either Winston's team was going to lose or ND was going to lose, so tonight was a win-win for me.
  5. Please?!? hahahaha. I think it'll be Beaty or Warinner. Bowen if he wins a few games. Narduzzi if there's a God.
  6. lol. sports fans are the worst. Are you watching this [expletive]? We wouldn't beat KU right now. No, I'm watching us get hammered by a terrible Texas Tech team.
  7. lol. sports fans are the worst.
  8. thats weird Ron Prince is missing from this list for some reason Ron Prince's 3 years at KSU look like Saban at Bama compared to what we've had since Mangino left.
  9. He's already passed on comparable (better?) jobs, but a credible source said he'd be interested in KU. It probably depends on if he wants to become a HC now and what jobs become available. I doubt he'd be a candidate for Michigan. Seems like he'd be a more logical fit in the Big 10. Not sure if anything will open up there, though. Purdue? UI? He's probably my favorite choice, though I think he's a longshot. Thoughts on Fritz?
  10. Anyone have any opinion on Willie Fritz as a potential head coach candidate for KU? Remember, we're not pulling an existing coach from a P5 conference. Right now the candidates seem to be: Ed Warinner: Co-OC/OL coach at tOSU David Beaty: WR coach aTm Tim Beck: OC + QB coach at Neb (no thank you) Clint Bowen:our current DC (no thank you) Willie Fritz: HC Georgia Southern Pat Narduzzi: DC Michigan State Jim Chaney: OC + QB coach Arkansas Scott Frost: Co-OC and QB coach at Oregon Josh Heupel: Co-OC and QB coach at OU (no thank you) Mike Norvell: OC + QB coach at Arizona State Matt Wells: HC at Utah State I've bolded the ones who I think will be in the first tier. But that's just me guessing. Maybe Ruffin McNeil, but I don't think he'd come. Some talk of Jerry Kill, but his buyout is crazy, and I don't know why he'd leave MINN
  11. [expletive] it. We're beating Texas Tech. They suck, too, so we're bound to get a break sometime.
  12. Oklahoma St. is not good. They struggled against a bad Texas Tech team, struggled against a worse ISU, and barely beat an even worse KU team. I know they played FSU close in the first game of the season, but their backup QB is now the full time QB, and they're about to start playing real teams now. I wouldn't be surprised if they closed the season 1-5, with their only win coming at home vs WVU.
  13. So Georgia's loss is to a team with 3 losses and their best win is at a place where Indiana won... Got it. All 3 of those losses were against SEC teams though. Yes, so they essentially count as wins.
  14. Ok, that's more like it. I hate this game.
  15. KU pretending like they might win this game just to make me miserable when they don't.
  16. '13 U-M, '14 PSU KU: 2009-present
  17. I'm just gonna leave this here, from an ESPN Insider article on who will replace Hoke. Never gonna happen, but it's fun to dream.
  18. The football violations are "third tier" violations, a couple from almost ten years ago. So much ado about nothing. The main thing is the Women's basketball violation which has already been dealt with two years ago. Coach was fired, players removed from the team, postseason ban, scholarship's removed, etc. The release of this "new information" actually concerns an investigation that occurred two years ago. This is basically just Pat Forde click-baiting on a big week. Oh, and the "Colonel Reb is crying" song is so classic. Takes me back. Orgeron is such a bafoon. Ol' Eddie Orgeron is lobbying hard for the KU gig.
  19. i wish they'd just fire him now then so we can have him. i think if he's given enough time he'll be successful, though I think he's probably a better fit for the SEC.
  20. Looking at the programs you mentioned, the common theme seems to be poor coaching decisions in the face of a variety of circumstances. Tennessee and Texas had long established coaches who were more or less forced out due to fan/booster pressure, with inadequate replacements coming in. Penn State had the opposite issue, with Paterno overstaying his usefulness (scandal aside). USC had some mediocre years, but even when they were going 7-5, they were beating good teams and not losing by 5 scores like Michigan is. I'm not sure what the heck AD's at these schools are doing, but there is really no excuse for a blue blood program to settle for anything less than the elite coaching options available to them. Rolling the dice on an up and comer or settling for a guy with school-ties is a little dumbfounding. That said, the fans are as fickle as ever. They're already turning on Urban Meyer here in Columbus. Texas is garbage this year, but I think it's a little early to describe Strong as an inadequate replacement.
  21. They were probably 3-0 in the non con or something and got the SEC bump. 2-0 actually. Which is surprising because they didn't even make a bowl the year before, so it's not like they started the season at 27 or 28 or whatever. http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/2633/year/2012/tennessee-volunteers Lol so predictable.
  22. They were probably 3-0 in the non con or something and got the SEC bump.
  23. KU @ WVU should be a blast. They have to be frothing at the mouth to avenge the only conference win by KU in a billion seasons. Hope they don't hang 70 on us.
  24. Seems like a step down for him. No he wouldn't. Our recruiting has always been adequate. We're never going to compete with OU. We just need to beat out the ISUs, KSUs, Techs, and WVUs of the world. And then we need to coach them up. We don't need to get 5* players, though that would be nice. Just 3* and a sprinkling of 4*--which is eminently doable at KU. Gill did it. Weis did it. The trick is getting the right guys and being able to develop them.
  25. God I hope it's not Venables.
