  1. ^^EDIT: This is in response to Andy's post That problem won't be going away in any college sport because of revenue reasons. The big programs pay the crappy ones to play at their stadium. Big program gets a tuneup, crappy program gets its biggest payout of the season. It's the same thing in hoops, and realigning the teams won't do anything about it. I suppose you could mandate an even split of road/home games, but in the end neither side (the big progs or the small ones) would go for it. It's the only way some of these lower tier programs can pay the bills.
  2. to remove the inequities of scheduling among other things geography no ties, as conference championship games determine the playoff teams I could be wrong about what you're proposing. Are you saying that each conference champion then enters a post-season tourney to determine the NC? If so, I don't understand how that eliminates scheduling inequity? Individual conferences will still be better than others. Which means many times the best teams (say, the second best team in the SEC) will be eliminated from post-season contention because it had a much harder schedule. College basketball works fine with unbalanced conferences, etc. A system that mirrors college hoops would be much better, IMO, then realigning every college team in the country, and it would also spare us from the confusion that arises during other sports' seasons. i mean in terms of # of games played, when games are played, etc. right now it's ridiculous Why? How? I don't understand what's ridiculous about those aspects of the current system.

  4. well that is certainly true. it's not a perfect solution But football trumps bball. I dont know what tv market Hawaii brings but Boise expands the Pac10's market a little. And as you know Penn State didnt get invited to the Big Ten for its Bball. (i see what others are listing in this thread as more likely) The Big East isnt that whacked because Providence/Nova/Georgtown/Marquette dont even have a football team. Im sure they would remain in the Big East when it comes bball season. The Big East becomes a 20 team conference in basketball. Their current number of 16 is already too large-20 wouldn't be feasible. Boise and Hawaii might get the TV market a little higher, but it also makes sure that the Pac 10 has no chance to be a great basketball conference. I'm sure there would be problems in other sports as well. It's simply not worth it for a small benefit in football to greatly hurt some other sports. i guess the point is that the complete lack of formality or uniformity in college football needs to be remedied by whatever means necessary why? aside from the lame championship system, what else needs correcting?
  5. Or Fresno. i think colorado's always considered a possibility, too.
  6. I put Z, although I understand the fascination w/ Lilly.
  7. Surprisingly little discussion of the Toledo/Kansas showdown. What gives?
  8. also: TTU up 3 at home against UTEP K-State only up 10 at home against San Jose St in the 4th. Luckily Big XII powerhouse KU is upholding the conference's reputation by beating up on it's second consecutive junior high team.
  9. Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis is a real good back, but if this is really the Mizzou defense then Oklahoma is going to run for about 500 yards, and Javorskie Lane is going to eat us alive in every sense of the word. haha. Yeah, what's up with the D. You guys gave up 500+ yards? I don't know much about Ole Miss. Are they a respectable offensive team?
  10. Uh, the Big XII is embarrassing itself. It does not look like a good football conference this year. TCU up 10 on Texas in the 3rd Neb squeaks by a decent WF team w/o its #1 QB Mizzou with a tough game against a mid-level SEC team Northern iowa putting a clown suit on Iowa State aTm needing OT to beat Fresno State. actually, Mizzou looks like they're handling business now.
  11. Mangino called the guy a hot dog, is that a compliment or insult. It's a threat. Hahahhahahahhaha. Holy crap, SSR, that one got me good.
  12. Soto's not eligible for the postseason roster, correct?
  13. I love this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV24Df50h5I&NR=1
  14. I don't know if burning effigies of Ryno in a rusted-out oil drum really counts as a cookout.
  15. Should be yeah. K-State should be decent but not great. I'm not expecting much out of Iowa State and Kansas, and I have no idea what to expect out of Colorado this year. KU will be in the top 3 in the North. And we always have a shot at beating you clowns. so they'll be third in the North? We'll beat Nebraska at home. If we played you in Lawrence and not KC, I'd bet on us against you, too. We're not that much worse than Mizzou, and our coach isn't an idiot of epic proportions. The Big XII north is weak enough where we have a chance to compete. Not a chance in hell KU finishes above KSU in the north. Top 3 in the north will be NU, MU, and KSU. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong. lol. You'll eat crow. I don't see the basis for your argument. Mangino is a terrible coach, no more Cornish... 2 below avg qb's. KSU in Manhattan. What do you want to bet? I personally have met a few posters from this board, and guarantee to be good for my money. Reesing is very talented. Great arm, good play-maker. His rawness is a a concern. Our running backs will be fine. Sharp has skills and is quick as hell, BMac is a nice change of pace. I am concerned they'll make him the primary BC, though. Passing offenses do scare me--at least until I've seen more evidence that we made big strides from last season, but your QB can't complete passes to save his life, and your O-Line is a sieve at best. Nice D, though. I don't think the Auburn game is much of a way to evaluate your team. Auburn's offense is one dimensional. Any O with wrinkles (Mizzou, Nebraska, us--hopefully) will be much harder to stop. I was half-joking, though, with the dismissive confidence. I still think we'll beat you guys. With your o-line, I'll be surprised if Freeman is still alive by the time we play you. And no, I don't bet.

The Big XII north is weak enough where we have a chance to compete. What does KU bring back this year? I know the RB(lost his name, the Canadian) graduated, but that's as far as I go since I'm separated from my copy of Phil Steele's Preview at the moment. Cornish was the RB, and yeah, he's gone. He'll be replaced by a guy (sharp) who averaged over 6/carry last season in limited action. We also have a bruiser RB (MacAnderson) who will see carries. I'd like Sharp to get the majority of the touches, but they make a nice lightning/thunder duo. Both our QBs are back, but it looks like last year's starter is #2 on the depth chart this year. Todd Reesing is the guy. Great arm, smart guy, play-maker. A bit on the short side. Lacks experience. Our wideouts are mostly returnees with a nice influx of freshman talent, and our O-Line should be solid. Returning pre-season all Big-XII Anthony Collins, and I believe our other tackle (Rivera? Rodriguez?) is returning. Our pass D got lit up last year, but it should be better. Brought in some good frosh talent, and part of last year's prob was inexperience. Have pre-season AA Aqib Talib back. Also a juco transfer at the other CB. We return our linebackers from last season and 2 starting DL, including James McClintock, who's a beast. (At least by KU standards). The biggest thing, though, is we've changed O coordinators. Our guy last year was a mess. No creativity, no flexibility, and some of the most questionable playcalling I've witnessed. That will be the biggest change. Last year we lost 4 games we had in the bag. This year, w a little experience and better play-calling, I think we'll win 8, maybe 9 games. (VERY soft chedule, too)

  20. Sometimes I worry I might be crazy. Then, out of nowhere, a random post will set me straight.
  21. If that's what he's used for...I'll cope. As if that day wasn't going to be long enough for the Cubs to begin with, now Trachs is starting one of the games...hope those dugouts are comfy.
  22. considering his usage, probably 60-day dl.
  23. HOW DARE YOU?
  24. I don't really get statements like that, but whatever.
  25. Why not keep Pie and Fukudome? Pie in RF, Fukudome in CF, Fonzie in LF.
