  1. Just a thought — maybe MLB should contract with Accuweather or some other professional outfit instead of relying on the combination of a head groundskeeper and a link to the NWS.
  2. The field must be unplayable. While Wrigley as is drains well, it isn't up to modern drainage standards, something the Cubs want to address with the planned renovation project.
  3. I can't shake the notion that we'll arrive in SF with a shredded pen and exhausted lineup. This sucks.
  4. It's hard to believe that ESPN will send HD trucks to Little League games while FOX broadcasts the MLB Saturday 'B' games in crappy 'enhanced definition.'
  5. Similar scenarios happen almost every year.
  6. They really need to or else they're in a pickle. The Cardinals don't play in Chicago any more this year, so if they don't play tonight or tomorrow that means St. Louis would need to come back to Chicago to play a make-up double header on a mutual day off. There are only two mutual days off remaining this season. They could plan the game for the end of the year and hope it isn't necessary. Could you imagine a one-off with the Cards to settle the division? That would be the height of insanity.
  7. As I recall, Vaughn had signed a big contract with the Angels in '98, and promptly injured his knee in a play near the dugout steps on opening night. He was never the same.
  8. There is no game status right now. It's raining too hard for them to play and will continue to do so for the next long while still. Cool. what is the score, inning, game sit when the rain came, how did the Cubs and Cards seem to be doing etc. This is getting more and more pathetic.
  9. The aesthetics of the convertible parks don't appeal to me at all, and I hate anything that takes nature out of play.
  10. That's awesome. Cincinnati, thank you very much. Nice 1-5 homestand, Brewers.
  11. Confirmed via TV, 5-2 now.
  12. One needs a translator when listening to Brantley, but I've deduced that Dunn just hit a bomb.
  13. I suppose the Reds will go into hibernation until they meet us again.
  14. More like F U Harang.
  15. Harang has nothing. What a joke.
  16. F U Braun.
  17. An observation ... It's remarkable how little the Wrigley Field marquee references things happening in Wrigley Field. I suppose that the recent seasons' trend of near-constant sellouts makes the board irrevelant so far as its former role, that being promoting ticket sales, but the purist in me would like to see it promote the Cubs' games once in a while.
  18. This isn't so much a FOX Sports problem as it is a FOX entertainment/affiliates problem. The locals and suits in central command have sold spots for primetime stuff, and no one outside the primary markets wants to sacrifice that to keep the games on. This has been the case for network regular season games for at least the last 30 years.
  19. Again ... you guys need to "move." I'm in Kentucky, but my dish is happily giving me WFLD in all its glory, and in turn, the game.
