Clearly Warren is not happy with the state of the organization. That should be a good thing. But I’m not sure what a President’s responsibility is when he’s also not the GM or whatever.
But they cannot keep Poles around if they don’t trust him with personnel decisions.
why do you keep asking these inane questions?
The answer is YES, YES, and YES. Do what you have to do. But don't do it if you aren't planning on signing him long-term. That's the conundrum.
They are still paying Bonilla. And they obviously can afford it. And so can the Cubs. Why do you care how much a player makes?
Every person who earns a paycheck with their work and not by counting unearned income should applaud it.
Go to the front page section of the website. People are talking about him there. He's going to generate a pretty steep package of players. Some think they will want low cost established players + prospects.
This Tucker thread has me excited for the first time this offseason. I hope the Cubs are interested. He's exactly the player they should target and extend.
Tucker is perfect for the Cubs but not on a short contract. The biggest hurdle is Jed/Tom's unwillingness to cement money long term. It makes too much sense to get Tucker if he's gettable, but I think they need to extend him.
I don't have a prospect that I wouldn't include.
I absolutely love that Jed and company thinks their ****** offense that will become a truck stop toilet after Taco Bell buy one get one free when they trade Bellinger and or Nico is enough to win if they can only find more journeymen relievers looking for short contracts.
It. Does. Not. Matter.
If you think the Mets are going to lose money or the Cubs would have, there is nothing to talk about.
they made enough money to pay for Soto (yearly) just in concerts
Tom is nuttier than a horsefeathers house rat.
All anyone is saying is that the decision is not up to the Cubs and they cannot win by dropping a dump truck full of money.
I don't know what fantasies he's playing with but everyone is the enemy.
Depending on who they get for Bellinger, they may need two bats, a guy who can play OF (maybe Canerio fills that spot, barely), and a guy who can play 1B unless they go let the young guys play and fill the role with OWNKC
Granted, I don't have a real good imagination, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how trading Bellinger and reallocating his money will make the club better. Maybe Jed will pull a rabbit out of his hat.
