  1. Regardless of whether they win I think Jed's job is safe. EDIT: Unless he wants to go somewhere else. I could see him teaming up with Theo and Breslow in Boston.
  2. Isn't the 1st quarter of the season the toughest on this year's schedule?
  3. I could be wrong, but Horton hasn't pitched 100 innings combined from college to his pro career. Edit: Sorry, it's 176.
  4. I've been thinking a lot about this. Some might say too much. After reading Tom and Jed's comments about clean books and value, I've concluded that Tom has told Jed to have as few commitments as possible heading into the next CBA. I think their (the Ricketts and some other owners) plan is to radically alter free agency. I don't expect that they will extend Tucker; next year, they will not make any long-term commitments to high-dollar players. So no, winning is not at the top of the list for our front office and owner.
  5. The Dodgers aren’t the enemy, the Ricketts family is the enemy.
  6. Watch out for Kilian this year. He was starting to put it together before he got hurt
  7. I'm a "big hall" guy two. If I could wave a wand or be the dictator of the HOF, I would change the HOF and put it in eras. Deadball Pre-integration Post-integration to West Coast Baseball (1947-1957) West Coast-1976 1977- Steroid Era Steroid Era (1994 to 2005) 2006-Private Equity Era A guy would get put in the era where he predominately played.
  8. it's an average/yearly, not an annual allotment.
  9. I just showed you factual evidence that you are wrong. Did you close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears?
  10. Dodgers: Co-owners of Spectrum SportsNet LA. ’23 figure unreported; ’22 revenue: $196MM. Cubs: Owners of Marquee Sports Network. ’23 figure unreported; ’22 revenue: $99MM Angels: RSN deal with Diamond Sports Group. Expected ’23 revenues around $125MM (reported by Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times in February ’23). Yankees: Co-owners of YES Network. ’23 figure unreported; ’22 revenue: $143MM. Sorry, no. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/each-teams-local-broadcasting-arrangement.html
  11. Why do you keep saying that when it’s obviously not true?
  12. As much as I hate it, I have to root for ND. Day’s face is too much for me.
  13. We give you jobs that make us richer. What do you want from us?
  14. What’s so great about that picture Is Nixon fouling
  15. God forbid a player gets paid one extra dollar more than they are worth. Never mind all the players who are pre arbitration and arbitration. Don’t think about those players.
  16. Snow games are always fun.
  17. Payroll parity isn’t the answer to any problem
  18. I know the Lions were depleted but they looked really good.
  19. What financial muscle? PTR and his sibs are just trying to break even.
  20. This game is insanely entertaining. Daniels is a lot more accurate than he was in college. I know we’re supposed to be Calib’s clan, but Daniels is really good.
  21. Rich people who are insulted from the consequences of their actions say horsefeathers and expect people to believe it. Who in the Cubs front office is going to call him out?
  22. It’s revenue, but that’s beside the point. Splitting hairs or pointing out how much other teams make is obfuscation. The Cubs are one of the most PROFITABLE franchises year over year in baseball. That doesn’t even include the extracurricular activities that go on in and around Wrigley in and out of season. So in summary, horsefeathers Tom Ricketts and his entire family. Sell the team.
  23. Break even, minus the concerts, hotel, VRBOs, landlord to bars, shops, a sports book, concessions, and about 1/3 of the season in straight profit. I honestly think since they have to divide everything five ways, they think they don’t make a lot of money
  24. Not sure if Canario is out of options yet, but according to Brett at BN he’s tearing the cover off the ball this winter.
  25. No team in the NL Central should be favored to win the division. But until someone other than the Brewers wins, gun to the head, they should be favored. They always do more with less.
