  1. Unless Al decides to play first and pitch, Bugs Bunny style.
  2. I don't think it is cool at all. That is a big no, no in Japaneese baseball. I don't know the history, but it didn't look like the pitcher was trying to hit him. Substitue Zuleta for Ryan Howard and the Japaneese pitcher for Bobby Howry and how cool would it be?
  3. :D Zambrano in his career at Dodger Stadium has a 0.00 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and a .100 BAA (17.2 IP, 4 G, 2 starts, 22/4 K/BB ratio). Raisin are you going to any games? Tonight and tomorrow night. I've seen Z throw 8 innings of shutout ball each of the last two seasons at Dodger Stadium. Nice. Shouldn't you be on your way?

  5. Maddux will want to get paid what he is worth (or what he thinks he's worth). If he has a good/great season he won't be giving any hometown discounts, especially if the Cubs go far in the playoffs. The questions are: 1. Do the Cubs have a guy or guys to replace him in the rotation? 2. How much money do the Cubs have to spend this offseason? 3. Are there any quality free agent pitchers? 4 Can the Cubs trade for a quality starter? IMO, in order for Maddux to come back the answers to question 1, 3 and 4 will have to be a resounding no. And the anwer to question two should be "a lot of money". If not, I don't think he comes back. I don't think Wood will be resigned unless he comes back healthy and performs really well. Wood will make a fortune of the free agent market this year.
  6. What he is saying is that they are both overrated and underrated. If you walk the #8 hitter who has a decent history against you with two outs on three occasions, it is not that big of a deal. If you walk the #2 hitter and the next guy hits a double, it is a big deal. So the guy walked four, but only one really hurt.
  7. So Says Professor Maddux: “Walks are underrated, overrated. It’s not how many guys you don’t walk or do walk. It’s how you pitch to lineups.” Maddux has always walked guys who tend to hit him well, in situations where the potential damage inflicted would be minimial. I thought this was an interesting comment and worthy of a little discussion. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/cubs.asp?id=178913

    Bonds

I don't know if I can hate Barry Bonds any more than I already do. I have pitty for Bonds, but he brought most of this scrutiny on himself. Regardless, he is probably the best hitter any of us will ever see in our lifetime. Unless that is, if Pujols continues on his remarkable track. The guy is nothing short of amazing.
  9. The resemblence is there. A 300 game winner I am. Watch and learn you will.
  10. Ron names Maddux the Chevrolet player of the game 8 innings 3 hits 86 pitches Vintage.
  11. Sooner or later the Cubs are going to have to find another rightfielder. Preferably sooner. Why? Just trade him with Rusch/Williams when we have eight starters. Either get a stud right fielder or bring up pie (summer). I don't care how they do it. As long as whomever they get is better than Jones.
  12. Dempster still gets the save even if he only gets one out right? The tieing or winning run has to be on deck, I think.
  13. Sooner or later the Cubs are going to have to find another rightfielder. Preferably sooner.
  14. Except for "Tad" and "Jack", I've really enjoyed listening to him. I don't know that I've ever heard him before. what are you new? IMO, Vin Scully is vastly overrated. Personal opinon I guess. I don't really care for the one man booth.
  15. because maddux never made three consecutive good starts last year He did have back to back complete games, then wasn't worth a crap for 4 starts though.
  16. with a .487 OBP I'd like to see him get .400 without all his body armor on the left arm. The body armor has no effect on IBBs
  17. Lee almost took the pitcher's head off. Instead he put his glove up and caught it.
  18. That's what I've been rooting for since last week. The pen could use a day off. he's getting long flys and liners as outs now...he's tired, someone needs to be warming now Maddux is pitching to conditions like he normally does. When Maddux tires he gets the ball up in the zone. I can't see it as I'm listenting on the internet. Is he getting the ball up?
  19. BABIP BABIP BABIP BABIP Everyone congratulate Diffusion for predicting this. That dude know's of what he writes.
  20. Santo on Bonds "Oh man, he's got some issues" I love Ron Santo![/i]
  21. Without the remarkable ability to hit a fastball a mile and a half. Or the tough hands.
  22. He's been due for two years.
