  1. JJ with a first pitch base hit. Lucky Don't get picked off fast Freddy.
  2. Nice work. and a case in point of both good and bad approaches. The two fly outs were early in the count after Ledee and Miller worked the walks.
  3. Walking people that he shouldn't be walking. The Dodgers approach is exactly what the Cubs should be doing.
  4. Houston at 10-4. Maybe their second half will be a turd this year.
  5. Golden opportunity wasted there. I hope someone asks Dusty about the Walker AB in that inning. That AB was the key.
  6. Bad swing on the 1-2 count.
  7. Especially against a guy who throws as many ball as Lowe. Error on Miller 1 and 3 one out.
  8. Stupid hit and run. Walker swung at ball three.
  9. Todd will take some pitches here.
  10. Z is acutally pitching pretty well. Come on boys take a few pitches here.
  11. They are playing right to Lowe's hand. If you make him throw pitches he will get himself in trouble. If I were Dusty I'd give the take sign on the first pitch to everyone except Aramis and Lee.
  12. Neifi has seen four pitches in two ABs.
  13. Unless Al decides to play first and pitch, Bugs Bunny style.
  14. I don't think it is cool at all. That is a big no, no in Japaneese baseball. I don't know the history, but it didn't look like the pitcher was trying to hit him. Substitue Zuleta for Ryan Howard and the Japaneese pitcher for Bobby Howry and how cool would it be?
  15. :D Zambrano in his career at Dodger Stadium has a 0.00 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and a .100 BAA (17.2 IP, 4 G, 2 starts, 22/4 K/BB ratio). Raisin are you going to any games? Tonight and tomorrow night. I've seen Z throw 8 innings of shutout ball each of the last two seasons at Dodger Stadium. Nice. Shouldn't you be on your way?

  17. Maddux will want to get paid what he is worth (or what he thinks he's worth). If he has a good/great season he won't be giving any hometown discounts, especially if the Cubs go far in the playoffs. The questions are: 1. Do the Cubs have a guy or guys to replace him in the rotation? 2. How much money do the Cubs have to spend this offseason? 3. Are there any quality free agent pitchers? 4 Can the Cubs trade for a quality starter? IMO, in order for Maddux to come back the answers to question 1, 3 and 4 will have to be a resounding no. And the anwer to question two should be "a lot of money". If not, I don't think he comes back. I don't think Wood will be resigned unless he comes back healthy and performs really well. Wood will make a fortune of the free agent market this year.
  18. What he is saying is that they are both overrated and underrated. If you walk the #8 hitter who has a decent history against you with two outs on three occasions, it is not that big of a deal. If you walk the #2 hitter and the next guy hits a double, it is a big deal. So the guy walked four, but only one really hurt.
  19. So Says Professor Maddux: “Walks are underrated, overrated. It’s not how many guys you don’t walk or do walk. It’s how you pitch to lineups.” Maddux has always walked guys who tend to hit him well, in situations where the potential damage inflicted would be minimial. I thought this was an interesting comment and worthy of a little discussion. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/cubs.asp?id=178913

    Bonds

I don't know if I can hate Barry Bonds any more than I already do. I have pitty for Bonds, but he brought most of this scrutiny on himself. Regardless, he is probably the best hitter any of us will ever see in our lifetime. Unless that is, if Pujols continues on his remarkable track. The guy is nothing short of amazing.
  21. The resemblence is there. A 300 game winner I am. Watch and learn you will.
