  1. Can he hit for enough power to be a corner outfielder?
  2. Seconded I'd like to say a walk scored that run and it helped that the guy had a little speed. If he doesn't get on base running fast to the dugout is of little value. If Pierre didn't have speed, a run wouldn't have scored in that at bat because he wouldn't have been on second. Therefore, speed got us a run. whatever. Lee would have drove him in anyway.

  4. Santo had an orgasmic moment when Cedeno dropped the liner then threw the guy out. OHYEAAAAAAAAAA!
  5. He doesn't seem to have a lot going on upstairs, that's how. That is not necessarily a bad thing in baseball. I remember a vinet in Moneyball where Beane is reconting a story where he and Lenny Dystra are sitting on the bench talking about the pitcher they were going to face. I can't remember the pitcher's name but he was really good. Beane says someting about the pitcher and Dykstra says, "who is he" or something like that. Beane goes on to tell Dykstra how good the pitcher is and Dykstra says, "F it I can hit him".
  6. Delution of pitchers? Care to elaborate? Expansion
  7. I think it is a combination of a number of things: -Stronger players -Delution of pitchers -Smaller ballparks I think it would be hard to "juice" the balls, intentionally. I think they are hand made somewhere in Lating America.
  8. Saw a scroll on CNN. A grand jury is considering perjury charges. The volutures are circling. My guess is he is done at the end of this season, if not sooner.
  9. But it's funnier as "flair". :) Much more funny.
  10. Larry Himes was a friggen idiot. For some reason he never really thought that much of Maddux. One has to remember too, that this is before Boras was "Boras". I was only more mad at the Cubs when Bill Madlock was traded. And I was only 4 or 5 at the time.
  11. Let is out man. You can see a graph of Aramis's BA by month here http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs.aspx?playerid=1002&position=3B&page=0&type=full
  12. I don't think they've played at home yet. Well I guess attendance hasn't been too goog then. I really hope they stay in Jackson.
  13. Are more people comming to the park?
  14. I like Diaz but I don't think he is a difference maker. He is also a guy without a position. They've tried him everywhere and he has stunk it up in the field. I do think he is a Chicagoan though. Isn't he the guy that hit the killer HR against us in 2004 late in the year? The one that tied the game in the bottom of the ninth? In mid-September in Shea off of LaTroy? Yeah, that's him. It was a Saturday afternoon game on FOX. I was at that game. I am still recovering. I was there too. So was CT. Prior pitch a hell of a game and Alou hit into two double plays. That was the day the Cubs started their decent.
  15. I'd play just for per deim.
  16. Z vs Milton That game should be a bajillion to 2 victory for the Cubs. Milton sucks. I dont know how to judge tomorrow... But remember the 9-inning No hitter against Phillies in 2004? I remember, and if I remember correctly, the Cubs came back and won that game. No the Cubs lost in 10. The Cubs tied it in the 9th on a Patterson double. But LaTroy walked a couple of guys then gave up the game winning hit. Unfortunately I was at that game
  17. This is a big early season game for the Cubs. If they win, it makes the sweep of the Cards that much sweeter (5-1 homestand) if they lose it is only a 4-2 homestand. I expect much better out of big Z tomorrow. And hopefully they are paitent enough with Milton to let him work himself into some jams. If they give him enough pitches he will.
  18. That's a good question for Cubs fans, too. PECOTA projects Barrett as better than Molina this year. Next year, they'r projected to be roughly on the same level (with Molina holding a very slight edge), and from 2008-2010, Molina is projected to be better hands down. I'd trade Barrett for Molina if it were clear the Cubs weren't going to the playoffs this year. Molina is no great shakes behind the plate either. The last game he was hopping around like someone put Icy-Hot in his jock strap.
  19. Only 2 of those you listed had more Win Shares than Barrett last year. Fine he is great, but shouldn't a big league catcher be a little better at catching the ball? Piazza never was. And when Barrett hits .330 with 40 homers then we can talk. Once he quit doing that he was a hack. For what it's worth, Barrett's EqA so far this season is a higher mark than Piazza ever had for a season, so complaining about his defense when he's hitting like this seems a bit premature, to say the least. I have long been critical of his defense, but if he keeps hitting like he is his value on offense more than makes up for whatever deficiencies he has on defense. Way more.
  20. Len said, 25 2/3 scoreless for Dempster. I hate walks in the 9th! Double play here?
