  1. And you are still wrong. Check a run expectancy chart. I don't care what a stupid chart tells me. It's a simple fact I would rather have a mistake that doesn't end the inning than one that does. This is why you get more upset when someone strikes out with two outs than with no outs. There is no chance to make up for a two out mistake in a inning. Chart's and statistics aren't the end all be all. That's really stupid. Really.
  2. I actually thought Phillip's analysis was pretty good last night.
  3. Put money down on the Diamondbacks to win it all now. Today they're at 18/1. That won't last long.
  4. Soto is the man.
  5. This topic is really interesting to me. I can see both sides of the argument although the Friday Night Lights guy looks like a real douchebag. I'd like to hear what Bruce Miles thinks about it, but he's probably too busy to notice what's going on.
  6. What happened? It sounds like whatever it was, it was pretty entertaining.
  7. I agree. Lou is really screwing the pooch early on. He's really mismanged the entire pitching staff.
  8. I had the exact thoughts. And it was not just after the game. Showing up about 20 minutes prior to the game, getting out of the station was a mess. We didn't even attempt to take the train back, and ended up walking all the way to some bars near union station. Is it that much different than the 4 to Yankee Stadium or the 7 to Shea? If so it much be really bad.
  9. Your 2nd sentence doesn't follow from the first. It sounds like you're saying Mars would sell off the naming rights to Wrigley Field. Not only that, but Buffet is purchasing Wrigley with cash! There is no debt.
  10. HUH?He's probably wondering where his post went.
  11. When Edmonds played for the Angles I saw a game in Yankee Stadium in which he made the most incredible catch I've ever seen. it was Johnson's catch except he had his back to the infield when he dove and caught it.
  12. I agree. He never should have subd. Cedeno. That mistake set the daisy chain in motion.
  13. I haven't been remotely imressed for going on two years.
  14. The Nationals have a very tough time scoring runs. Cubs get the lead Marmol 8th Wood 9th White Flag time.
  15. Clearly you do not understand what Pyth. record means then. I will say that it's not meant to be predictive of future performance though. In a small data set (i.e., beginning of the season) it may be a very inaccurate method to determine "over" or "under" performing. However, over the course of 162 games Pyth record correlates very well to actual record most of the time. So much so that people can reasonably conclude that if a team wins more games or loses more games than their Pyth. record suggests, they "over" or "under" performed. Here's a study if you're interested or just bored. http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/math/pdf/0509/0509698v4.pdf
  16. I've got some slightly used tissues for you.
  17. I watched two of Oswalt's performances this season and it's clear he's a shadow of his former self. Think of Pedro without the movement on his pitches. If I were Houston I'd be more than willing to move him and his bloated contract to some sucker.
  18. I would have skipped Hill in Colorado and pitched him in DC. This is not a big deal, but is pretty stupid.
  19. I am amazed! If they keep showing the same plate discipline they should be in almost any game, given good to mediocre pitching.
  20. I'm starting to get real excited about this team. The addition of Soto, Fukudome, and Johnson have helped tremendously. I'm a little scared to be this excited.
  21. Rich is looking pretty good tonight. Man this team is surprisingly good. If they keep this up I'll
