  1. He's going to get a little soft tossing in the runway.
  2. Nico! and it's a blow out. 100 win team.
  3. That's a ball Wisdom has no chance at a few years ago.
  4. How does this guy's elbow stay attached?
  5. Girardi is such a waste in this booth.
  6. Isn't Mooney bascially Jed's mouthpiece?
  7. They can keep Rios but, they need to get rid of Torrens and Hosmer.
  8. Agree. Hosmer is one of those guys that hangs around forever in baseball because he's White and is seen as some kind of a stabling presence or role model.
  9. It's a more controlled swing and more repeatable.
  10. Aliendo has been the primary catcher. Amaya has been mostly DHing. When he has caught, it hasn't been pretty. Aliendo is no great shakes either, he kicks the ball around with his glove like a hockey goalie batting pucks away from the net.
  11. Yes, he looked really good. Amaya is 2/3 with a SB.
  12. PCA not in the lineup again tonight
  13. Agree on all accounts. However, the AAA team draws pretty well.
  14. I think it's a very useful way to assign "goodness" to a team. The three buckets might not all be the same size, but they are close. Rob Neyer wrote a book many years ago about the "best" all-time baseball teams, one of his categories was something like blowout wins (I think it was by 4 or more runs) to measure greatness. I think the '27 Yankees had an incredible number of wins by more than 4 runs. It factors into the overall run differential too.
  15. Boy that looked like shoulder trouble.
  16. They hae to change their names from the Athletics to the Aces
  17. I like how you use true talent like it's an entity that exists. In life, at the end of the day you are the collection of behaviors you have emitted for that day, your potential to emit other behaviors is irrelevant. What you are talking about is what is expected vs what occurred. The statistical stuff is correct, but the rest is nonsense. There is no such a thing as "true talent". If the model doesn't map on to reality, it's the model that's off, not reality. You can't just chalk it up to variance and wash your hands. Baseball is not like flipping a coin. As an aside, these supposedly intelligent people should include confidence intervals on their predictions to account for variance instead of pretending they have a level of precision they do not have.
  18. PCA not in the lineup today. Why isn’t he playing every day?
  19. Good to see the Cubs beating up on the alsorans.
