  1. Best thing about MLB.TV is I can watch the TV feed and listen to the radio feed when Suttcliffe is in the booth.
  2. I think this is exactly correct. Fields is not his guy and he still doesn't know if he is the guy. It's still on Poles because he choose not make an attempt for a season +.
  3. My biggest gripe with Ross after him letting his starters pitch to failure and making every bullpen appearance a high leverage situation, is his lineup construction. I know a lot of data goes into these decisions, but you kind of have to let Mervis and Morel play most days.
  4. Eh, according to MLB.com he has one error and one passed ball this year, so not bad. If his soft skills are good, maybe I’m biased.
  5. BTW, the Smokies game is also free today. I think the games may overlap though. If you haven’t seen PCA play it’s worth the watch. edit: the games probably will not overlap
  6. I trust professionals more than me. But goodness, he looks a lot different than that scouting report. Even on TV.
  7. It’s no longer early, but it’s also not too late. The Cubs must have a good 10 game road trip out West if they want to have any chance at postseason play. by good I mean better than .500. 6 and 4 would be good. 7-3, outstanding. Anything beyond that is too much to hope for.
  8. Jon Greenberg had a great 1/2 column comparing and contrasting the Chicago owners with the owner of the Warriors.
  9. The Chattanooga pitcher, Phillips, is blowing the Smokies away. Curve ball fastball.
  10. This umpire behind the plate in TN is atrocious.
  11. It’s the curse of Chicago professional team ownership.
  12. Aliendo- I’ve seen him 5 times in live games between SB and TN. also tv games, but it’s different. The first time I saw him in SB he couldn’t block any pitches and just had a hard time in general keeping the ball in front of him. It was quite noticeable. this year when I saw him in Montgomery he was much better, but still not good. I don’t know enough about professional baseball standards to make definitive statements, but he does not shine behind the plate. However, I’ve heard or read or both that he’s a very hard worker and the most popular guy on the team and everyone likes him in both SB and TN. That is an important skill, especially for his position. if I had to choose, I’d say he’s an organizational guy who will be around the fringes of MLB for a long time.
  13. Watching the Smokies. PCA is in another world with his defense. I wonder once he gets moved up to AAA how long he’ll stay there.
  14. Honest questions how often are really good prospects traded for other prospects? How often are teams that are out of contention trading prospects for prospects that are going to add value? I know they might be having a 40 man crunch, but I don’t know how other team’s handle that situation who are not looking to buy MLB players
  15. If those things don’t work and in a hurry (Heuer looks way off, Keegan is lost), they need to do something. I don’t think Mooney was totally speculating, but I also think it’s not something they want to necessarily do.
  16. Agreed. I (and probably almost everyone) want them aggressively trying to win games for a change. This is a move that smart teams make who care about winning.
  17. Mooney has an article in The Athletic suggesting they will use Ben Brown in the bullpen. That would be a bold move and I really like it.
  18. How about that! a little life or a dead cat bounce, two really good and fun games in a row. Who cares!
  19. There is like an 85% chance that they are not going to be buying at the deadline.
  20. The Reds might be (probably will be) unloading India at or before the trade deadline. They should get a good return on him even though his defense is pretty suspect. They are an organization on the rise (I think I’ve been saying this for five years, lol).
