  1. You're really talking yourself out of this trade. I think it's best just to say you don't want to trade the prospects for him. Your experiment is irrelevant.
  2. 1st base is the least important defensive position on the diamond when playing 80 games in Wrigley. I get not wanting to trade premium minor leagues for him given his age and position, but let's not make up excuses. Also, he can slide into the DH role pretty easily. He is a great fit for the Cubs, but the price may be too steep. If they're not willing to let Mervis grow into the position, they are going to have to find a 1st baseman. Playing Bellinger there is a waste of talent.
  3. Yes, he's traded exit velocity for bat to ball and it's paid off for him. He's also benefited from the shift restrictions as well. Not having a guy standing behind 2nd has added more than a few points to hs BA and RBI totals.
  4. Or analytic takes on basketball, who gives a horsefeathers.
  5. Why would the Bears make this move? I'm not following the need.
  6. Anyone want to hazard a guess what effect this may have on his impending free agency?
  7. They need to keep grinding wins. It would be nice to have a blowout (win) game this series and get the pen some rest. If they can remain in sweeping distance of the Brewers in the final series it will be one of the most exciting ends of the season ever. Their September schedule includes the Reds, Giants, and Diamondbacks. Take those series and they are most likely assured a spot in the playoffs. I want them to win the division. They have three against the Braves right before the Brewers. The Braves will likely have clinched by then so maybe they will be on cruise control.
  8. I had a meeting and had to miss the end of the game. A win is a win and cannot be taken away. Keep chugging along. This team reminds me of the Colorado Rockies team that lost to Boston in the 2007 WS. Not the same makeup, but the same type of team that just kept winning down the stretch until they found themselves in the WS. They were 90-73
  9. It's Ross's bag to let his starters go too long. He does it over and over again. It is known.
  10. Me no likey Rucker. Hopefully he can put a 0 up
  11. The entire complection of the game has changed.
  12. After the 2nd hit when it was clear he was done was the time to pull him. You have to get someone up in the pen the third time through the order with most of the guys on the Cubs staff. It should be a standing order.
  13. I got the last laugh by getting the game-winning hit in the Championship. Wasn't a bunt either. One of the very few moments of glory in my life.
  14. The last year I played, I was so out of my talent level that the manager made me bunt almost every time I got to bat. I ended up hating that guy.
  15. I've been on the fence about Boog for a while. He's a terrible pbp guy and I just don't like his happy ass delivery.
