I suppose it's a semantic distiction. When I think of a pop up prospect, I think of a guy who went off for half a season, maybe skipped a level but nothing in his profile suggests it's sustainable or that he has a glaring weakness, not yet exposed to play. I don't think of a guy who's produced at every level with better than average defense at a premium defensive position.

I'll put it this way - Forget about his draft status, how many people go from the complex league to AAA in less than two years? Some of it is due to his age, but he's excelled at every level to this point. He may stall out at AAA, but nothing in his game points to that.

He wasn't worthy b/c of his draft status. Everything he's done since being drafted is worthy.

LOL, he was drafted in 2024 and his 2025 numbers (in a park and league that's not hitter firendly were eye poping enough to get him in the AFL.

Except Ayres has been doing it since he was drafted, at every stop along the way. He's not a pop up prospect. He's a new to you prospect. HIs main problem is age. If he was 21, he'd likely be a top 50 prospect. were

it's almost as if those grades are all made up and don't really correlate to anything. Think of it this way: all those scores don't add up to much of a total prospect, but really they are like the bead on the end of a shotgun as opposed to a rifle, they are a reference point, not an aiming point.

I don't follow the league as closely as I used to. Given the likely prospects involved and the need, my top target would be Gausman. Then I'd try to get a closer. They should not blow out the farm, and I think we may value the Cubs prospects more than other teams. I don't think Wiggins is all that attractive, or at least he wouldn't be for me. Then the top of the list is a bunch of quantity over quality besides Hartshorn. It's going to be an interesting deadline, but I expect a lot of smoke and not much fire.

So are they going to finally be good or what is happening? I'm not the biggest hockey fan but it seems like they've been rebuilding for 5 years.

I don't know names, but in order of importance to me SP#1 - SP# 2 Closer (might actually be #`1) A bat off the bench who crushes left-handed pitching. -
If the Pirates make the playoffs, I could see them shocking some teams and having a run with the top of their rotation and that offense. I'm happy for them.

It's the Cubs' mindset that has been around for longer than the Ricketts have owned them. Just hang around the WC and count the gate. That's how good they want to be for the price they want to pay. Maybe call it the Crane Kenney Experience.

With Jamo we can usually tell right away if he has it or not, so if he gives up 2 in the first, please get someone up in the pen before he gives up 4 in the 2nd.

That's not the argument. The argument is "The Dodgers are buying championships."

Would the argument hold water if the Pages dropped the ball last year? A cap solves what problem? Spending! A cap does not solve any other problem. If a person is against spending, ok. But that's not the argument. The Mets are the #1 spender in baseball. What have they won? If the argument is that teams can't compete, ok. The owners can share amongst themselves (and do to an extent). But that's not the argument either, B/c it's then, it's show me the data time, for inexplicable reasons. You can't start with a conclusion and then find the evidence. I mean, you can, but it would not be a productive pastime.
