  1. Who knew? Now, Brandron Morrow has 6 for the Mariners so Aardsma is not really the "closer". However, tonight he closed out a 5-4 game in the 9th against the Red Sox, no easy task. Also he has a 1.53 ERA. If only...
  2. He's been battling tonight but not all that great. 5 hits, 2 walks through 3, though only 1 run.
  3. We should do this with Jake Fox, perhaps sending down Scales (only because Miles can't) just for the interleague period. This won't happen though.
  4. This isn't really a power development. He has figured out that he can put balls in the basket at Wrigley. When he hits a home run somewhere else (Houston doesn't count) let me know.
  5. http://www.accuweather.com/radar-regional.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&level=regional&type=SIR&anim=STILL&site=nc NOT promising. I bet it gets called soon.
  6. Yes, he defers to his manager, moreso Baker than Piniella, but this of little importance. Maybe Lou didn't like Gaudin so Hendry had to get rid of him, same with Cedeno, but for the most part he follows performance. Pie is obviously a point against this view though.
  7. You gotta go to Billy Williams on this one tonight: "Hit it high and watch it fly"
  8. I'll believe this when I actually see it. When is Randy Wells' next start anyway?
  9. I'd rather beat 'em when they're at full strength so the fans from Missouri won't whine about it, but really whatever. It happens to every team. But at the same time I do find it hard to take pleasure in a player's misfortune.
  10. My dad was a big fan of his and said he was as much of a clutch hitter as his brother was if not more and a better glove For what it's worth Bill James looked at the claim that Dom was a better fielder than Joe and found it generally true. I believe Total Baseball also supports that claim. He was a really solid player too, career .383 obp, and was a star on those memorable late 40s/early 50s Red Sox.
  11. Tiger Stadium - possibly game 7 1968, also Kirk Gibson's homer in 1984 WS game ? to clinch it. Ebbet's Field - it would be intolerable to do anything besides Jackie Robinson's debut. Shibe Park - 1929 WS game 4. Connie Mack's boys put up a 10-spot in the bottom of the 7th as the %@)#% Cubs blow an 8 run lead.
  12. He'll be something special this year. I just worry about the innings on his arm though he is quite efficient. The Royals are going to be in contention this year it would appear, and the franchise will push him hard to stimulate this revival in KC with a playoff appearance. Hopefully they realize he is the future.
  13. Annoying little hit. Marshall looked pretty awkward trying to field that.
  14. Lou is clearly not serious enough about this LRLR thing. Marshall should be hitting 8th.
  15. I know we've said current Cubs, but can we expand this discussion ever so slightly and discuss KW? He obviously needs to come back and do some good things and maybe win a WS here but he is universally loved by the fans and organization alike I think.
  16. Question: Who is our backup infielder today? Soriano?
  17. Soriano would never have taken that walk last year. Maturing?
  18. He looked ungodly slow on that. Reed Johnson in it looks like.
  19. His bat speed has impressed me, particularly on the RBI double that was misplayed into a triple in the game Sat. night. He looks really good in the 2-hole right now. I could see .285/.385/.475
  20. This new Fukudome is wonderful. He so markedly improves our lineup hitting out of the 2hole it's unimaginable. His bat speed on that double was impressive.
  21. If Lou had brought in Marmol someone would have instead have made a comment about how Lou is on pace to pitch Marmol in 162 games, on the topic of Marmol being injured. Either way people find a problem with it.
  22. 2nd consecutive solid start from Z on opening day. It's good that he's reversed that trend.
  23. Kudos to Dusty for letting Harang throw 114 on opening day a year after almost destroying his arm.
  24. I'll be at the game on the 3rd...apparently I'm 3rd or 4th row right down the left field line behind the pole. Hopefully a get a Milton Bradley hr ball.
