  1. Did you really just say that about DeRosa? If you had gained any credibilty on this board, I think you may have lost it. .371 obp, .293 ba, and he only made 6 errors all year at 2nd base, not that errors matter anyways, just from watching nearly every day I thought DeRo played 2nd base quite well. Please tell me I am mistaken and you are talking about someone else, but if your talking about DeRosa you are a moron. Edit: I read ahead, and think you were talking about Greene, in that case I agree with what you said. I was just confused why anyone would think that about DeRosa, he's truly a quality player. Greene > DeRosa and it's not even close. DeRosa isn't good enough to be a starer. Jumbo Jimbo's right on this one. at SS? probably. At 2B that's not true, he had a .275-.280 EqA the last two years and an OBP above .350. He's plenty good enough to start at 2B.
  2. yeah, i knew they were playing the dolphins and not the bills... it was just a brain fart that i wrote bills. if they were playing the bills i would've listed that as an option (though the pats did absolutely destroy the bills in Orchard Park this year)
  3. I absolutely, positively, 100% guarantee that you're right about not losing to the Bills. If they actually PLAYED the Bills during the time you mentioned there might be a 1% chance or so. However, it's actually the Dolphins, not the Bills, that they play in week 16. wow my original post was horribly flawed. that being said, they have as much chance of losing to the bills as they do of losing to the dolphins in week 16.
  4. i just edited the title, which had said "when will be 2007-08 patriots lose", because i realized it would be hard for this year's patriots team to lose sometime during the 2008-09 season. :P
  5. Huh? I thought the Pats were losing their top draft picks after getting caught stealing plays? no, they lose their own first-round pick in the draft, but they keep the 49ers' first round pick, which the niners pissed away last year when trading up to draft joe staley. the niners gave up their first round pick this year (gonna be top 5 probably) and a 4th round pick last year (turned into randy moss) for joe staley. great job guys.
  6. I refuse to include their next two games because there's no way in hell they lose at home to the Jets or Dolphins. In fact, after the camera thing, I'm shocked that early lines only have the Pats as a 24 point favorite against the Jets. I seriously think they're going to win by at least 50. Anyway, making the assumption that the Patriots beat the dregs of the AFC East, when, if at all, will they lose?
  7. let's just make a separate thread for the illinois fans so they can read about their important program there, and we can discuss our little insignificant schools in this one
  8. who's diminishing it? the cowboys are really good, i don't think anyone said that they're not. they're either the 2nd or 3rd best team in football, depending on what one thinks of the colts. that being said, neither the cowboys, nor anyone else, will beat this patriots team. in other news, peter king is an idiot: hey peter, mr. moss and mr. owens would like a word with you.
  9. yeah i almost didn't include him, but then i thought about it more and realized that he's not very good at all. I think at one point I thought he was a very good GM, just like I thought Dusty Baker was a good manager, because the team was successful for a string of years. As it turns out, Barry Bonds was pretty much responsible for masking many of the flaws that Sabean and Baker have. And when talking about Sabean, the Nathan/Liriano/Bonser for Pierzynski swap was a disaster.
  10. Who is it? Jim Hendry is pretty bad, but there are plenty more solid choices on this list! However, Dave Littlefield is gone, so a popular choice is no longer available.
  11. tim tebow fans
  12. As I understand it, the Cubs were looking for fast guys who hit righties and play the middle infield. Most of the attraction around lefties being that they hit righties well. Iguchi is pretty unexciting. $6 million is a bargain? Ugh. These .768 OPS type guys are the sort of guys even this crap system should be able to churn out. Shabby. What a system. His day/night splits are nice if he were going to the Cubs. The fielding metrics make look like a sorry defender though. A career .768 OPS decent but not Matsui-like basestealer of questionable defensive prowess, it just seems kind of pointless to me. How many more wins would be worth to the club to bring in Iguchi and have DeRosa as the super-sub, I wonder? I wouldn't want to be committed to Iguchi for 3 years. If we want a fast guy to play poor defense at 2nd let's throw Eric Patterson out there. sounds good to me!
  13. from the "this barely qualifies as news"-thread. Yeah, this and every other post made about a team hardly anyone cares about, which is about 55 percent or more of them. yeah i'm pretty sure nobody cares about holy cross basketball, but damned if i'm gonna let that stop me from posting about them after every game they play :D
  14. not really theriot's fault... he gets the most out of his talent; unfortunately, he's not talented enough where he should be playing every day, but the cubs have him in that role
  15. fixed
  16. i agree, i think iguchi's skill set will be undervalued. supposedly he's looking for something similar to what matsui got (3 years, $16.5 million) and I think he'll end up getting about $5-6M per year. That's pretty good value in the current market. PECOTA projects him to have pretty solid numbers the next few years, too.
  17. Depends on whether the Dolphins want McFadden. If they do, then nobody has a shot at him. If they don't, then McFadden could be available with the Patriots' pick. Any WR in the top 5 would be a reach. On the other hand, Jake Long would be a legitimate top 5 pick, and the Cowboys could draft him as the heir apparent to Flozell Adams.
  18. they may trade down for salary reasons. however, if that SF picks ends up being #2 or #3 overall, the cowboys will definitely have to give up more than two low first-rounders to move up to grab a franchise-caliber player (probably the most attractive player to the cowboys in that spot would be glenn dorsey).
  19. didn't know you were such an expert talent evaluator when it comes to Conference USA quarterbacks. vance nicholson, jack of all trades. Well, I just think it's quite pathetic that you'd rather your team lose than have a chance to win it all. Of course, I guess that happens when your team has never won anything. If your team was eliminated, wouldn't you want your team to suck more to get a better draft pick? That's not what he said. He said he'd rather his team get a good draft pick than lose in the Super Bowl. Even if my team lost, I'd rather see my team in the Super Bowl each and every year. there was no way the eagles had a talented enough team to make the super bowl ahead of the cowboys or packers this year. that's why i started rooting for the eagles to tank about 6 weeks ago.

  21. by the way, apparently baltimore lost its super bowl last week because they sure are mailing it in tonight

  23. Almost as great as watching Romo act like a little bitch when things weren't going great. 12-1 congratulations, you're playing for 2nd place just like the rest of the nfc Nope. We're playing for number six. lawl dream on At least we'll have a chance, while the Eagles and McNab get to stay home and eat Chunky soup. i'd rather the eagles get a good draft pick than watch them get bent over in the super bowl
