  1. this deal is fair to the rooftop owners. if it weren't for the baseball games being played, they'd be making a total of $0 on having people sit on their roof. the cubs are providing the product; they deserve some of the profit as well.
  2. i was going to say the same thing. that offense is truly atrocious. aside from rowand, i considered pretty much everyone. even durham would be a good option if he's as bad as last year. to me, the $64,000 question is whether pierre will get enough playing time in LF to make him a bad enough option. he's almost certainly the worst player if he gets the chance. i think it all depends on if ethier or kemp struggle for a week or two; torre will go with the "proven veteran" here's my very preliminary team. i did it at work last night, so there are still some more things i need to look at, especially for the pitchers. C Jason Kendall (also strongly considered pudge) 1B Rich Aurilia 2B Jose Lopez 3B Jose Castillo SS Tony Pena (almost went w/Vizquel, but concerned that injuries could get him since he's 150 years old) LF Juan Pierre CF Michael Bourn RF "Jared" Schumaker P Brian Burres P Brett Tomko
  3. lol, i love the idea that if pie or patterson just actually tried, they could have the strike zone knowledge and pitch recognition of a guy who did those things better than 99.9 percent of the players who have ever played the game. those things are actual skills you know, not just things that every guy can pick up if he tries at it.
  4. yeah you can pretty much stick a fork in him...
  5. that's a problem with the manager, not the player
  6. fitting way to the 100th year of futility... a cubbishly-painful loss
  7. breaking news, two of those guys are really really good and one of them is going to be very good.
  8. freakin amazing. ok we cannot lose this game now.
  9. guess that guy was right about kerry wood being overrated
  10. hooray, a base-clogging reference on the nats-phils game!

  12. U don't have WGN? nope, i've actually never gotten wgn anyplace where i lived
  13. listening to musberger do baseball games is weird i don't understand how a guy who is 6'7" and 85 lbs can hit the ball that far. i want to punch corey hart in the face.
  14. braun really didn't acclimate to third base? i didn't notice.
  15. hopefully the "statement" ned yost was making there was that he is going to run into a lot of outs with the heart of his lineup at the plate this year.
  16. it's finally here! get your entries in now! http://www.baseballprospectus.com/hm/
  17. I can't tell if this is sarcasm, but if it's not. Go back and read some of the stuff he and his dad pulled when he was in high school what, the thing about trying to get the coach fired? that was his dad. and from everything i've seen of him in college, he seems to be a good kid. i'm not going to judge him on some other stuff that was probably written by people who have an agenda against him.
  18. shouldn't a prototypical leadoff hitter do stuff like get on base a lot?
  19. i thought he picked the indians to beat the cubs.
  20. breaking news - alex ovechkin is freakin awesome
