  1. unless he learns how to take a walk, he will not be better than derosa
  2. i still think we're losing at least 4 or 5 out of 6 at home against two lousy teams
  3. i thought soto would be solid this year, but not this good. congrats on a great first half, big man.
  4. i also like the one from directly behind the pitcher but a little higher up. it's easier to tell if a pitch is high/low than it is to tell outside/inside, and i think guys get rung up a lot more frequently on pitches that are marginal on either side of the plate than whether they should've been called high/low. plus nobody knows what the high end of the strike zone is anyway.
  5. david eckstein chokes up so much that he's often holding the barrel of the bat, i think
  6. i guess it's not totally impossible that the brewers could keep sabathia long term, but they're certainly not keeping sheets and sabathia, so beyond this year there won't be much impact. that does give them a very tough top 2, though, assuming health (which is always questionable with sheets)
  7. sweep would've been nice, but 2 out of 3 is solid and we're heading home to play bad teams. once j.j. hardy comes down off his cycle the brewers will hopefully lose a few as well.
  8. don't know how we are going to pull out of this nosedive after the crushing loss yesterday
  9. excuse me while i mute this "how's it feel to make the ASG" interview with ryan ludwick
  10. ryan ludwick on the all star team pisses me off to no end
  11. hardy has another home run... did he double up on this cycle or something? holy crap.
  12. give the cubs some credit, their idiotic handling of soto last season prevented him from losing his rookie eligibility - and there was no way he was gonna beat out tulo/braun - so now he actually has a good chance at RoY this season.
  13. imagine rich with his good stuff pitching to guys at that level? he was absolutely dominant against AAA hitters in 2006, and those are guys who have been playing professionally for several years. i'd think those rookie ball hitters would practically wet themselves after seeing his curve.
  14. btw there is also someone named "macias" playing for boise. i think we have to just release all these guys.
  15. ozzie played for a longer time and was the best defensive shortstop ever.
  16. just make sure that in the box score recaps, he's not being posted as n. perez.
  17. i think it's safe to say that if we lose this one, a firesale is probably the way to go
  18. haha, pirates poop on jeff suppan and he gives the lead right back. 4-4 in the 2nd.
  19. j.j. hardy, coming into today: Last 7 days .533/.548/1.100/1.648 Last 14 days .480/.509/.940/1.449 Last 28 days .380/.417/.734/1.151 what the hell
  20. ok maybe a better comparison is the 2003 cubs, but only from the 8th inning of game 6 on.
  21. 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K brb, changing my pants
  22. It's not called that anymore. whatever, they're just gonna change the name every other year so i'm not gonna bother learning the new one. like the park in san francisco, that's had like 3 names in 5 years... i'm just calling it pac bell because that's what i remember.
