  1. i wonder how much of a discount tucker will give them. i wouldn't think it's enough to sign cameron. they'll probably have to go below slot on some of their 2nd-5th round picks.
  2. almost time for 3.5 million home attendance, $120m payroll cardinals to make their competitive balance pick.
  3. pretty much everybody is baffled by the angels' first round selection (catcher taylor ward, from fresno state).
  4. rolling around on the ground isn't much different to how holliday normally plays defense.
  5. i wonder if we'll go with standard college picks signing slightly below slot in rounds 2-4, then go bonus on good high school arms in rounds 5-8 again.
  6. isn't the draft record of high school first basemen absolutely horrendous?
  7. from the baseball prospectus draft guy:
  8. i am already excited to see the cubs facebook post about ian happ, and all the subsequent comments bashing them for not selecting a closer because the bullpen sucks right now.
  9. i am okay with this. harold sure is fond of gym rats who love baseball.
  10. if i was an analyst, i would just compare white prospects to black major leaguers and black prospects to white major leaguers, just to break things up a bit.
  11. good to see lester starting in an AL park, considering his career .000 batting average.
  12. better find some new sources.
  13. ted williams comp! no pressure, kid.
  14. something about a blind squirrel
  15. i mostly watch the draft just to hear harold reynolds say multiple stupid things about every single draft pick. btw, what is a bud light mixx tail? this has to absolutely horrible, right?
  16. i could rant against like half of the cards' roster for overperforming. jhonny peralta is at an age where almost everyone is declining nowadays - especially without the help of PEDs that help you become even better despite entering your mid to late 30s - yet he's playing the best baseball of his career, coincidentally in the two seasons that he's wearing a cardinal uniform. matt carpenter was some random mid-round draft pick turned perennial mvp candidate. by far the highest pitchers' LOB% in baseball? you guessed it, the cardinals.
  17. i look at the cardinals' roster and i don't feel like they're that much better than us. then i look at their record and wonder how they're winning so much with that [expletive] roster.
  18. justin turner has a .328/.396/.491/.887 line as a dodger? wtf.
  19. i also don't see why people wouldn't trade for him. he has a broken finger. that shouldn't affect his trade value.
  20. very good series and great job by the pen today. #wearegood
  21. he said that he wants to give rondon a chance to work through some things in lower leverage situations. i don't think rondon is out as closer, they're just going to play it by day.
  22. oh good bryce harper coming up against a pitcher who is getting battered by hard contact.
  23. yeah things improved drastically after they sacked mouth-breather extraordinaire rob dibble.
