corey black so far tonight: 5 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 6 k. tennessee did manage to scrape across a run against blake snell, who had pitched 51 innings this season without giving up a single run.
I am pretty pessimistic, but not to the extent it seems. I just use the game threads as a venting mechanism. maybe punch the couch cushions instead of subjecting other people to your constant stream of negativity.
I have a fun idea. Let's watch baseball and point out every negative outcome. i actually liked it better when he would sit out most of the game when things were going well for the cubs, then turn up when the bullpen blew the lead in the 8th inning. now he points out every negative thing even if the cubs are winning.
nice to hear that kevin encarnacion is playing. i think he may have been playing a little bit in the fall last year, but he's still a guy to root for because of what he went through with the car accident.
nice to see starlin hit the ball hard. if barmes had thrown home, he probably would've gotten bryant, but i wonder if bryant would've just turned around and run back to third.
optimism is not high. one of the top slider pitchers in the game - and a guy who throws his slider more frequently than pretty much anybody - against a lineup that struggles against good breaking pitches. i predict a low-scoring game won by the padres, maybe 3-1.
i get annoyed at how well jhonny peralta is playing for the cardinals, because he seems like the kind of guy who would turn into an old man who can't play any more within about 10 minutes of signing a contract with the cubs.
