  1. why does it feel like the diamondbacks always play out of their minds against the cubs?
  2. yes, considering that the pitcher would no longer be leading off the next inning.
  3. corey black so far tonight: 5 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 6 k. tennessee did manage to scrape across a run against blake snell, who had pitched 51 innings this season without giving up a single run.
  4. baez has 2 singles in 2 at bats. on the down side, he's been making a truckload of errors this year. 2 more tonight, which puts him at 11 in 22 games.
  5. edwards' strikeout rate is awesome. his marmolesque walk rate is not.
  6. i do wonder what will happen to zagunis' walk rate as he gets to the higher minors, since it doesn't seem like he has much power to speak of.
  7. I am pretty pessimistic, but not to the extent it seems. I just use the game threads as a venting mechanism. maybe punch the couch cushions instead of subjecting other people to your constant stream of negativity.
  8. I have a fun idea. Let's watch baseball and point out every negative outcome. i actually liked it better when he would sit out most of the game when things were going well for the cubs, then turn up when the bullpen blew the lead in the 8th inning. now he points out every negative thing even if the cubs are winning.
  9. how many other ballparks is that a home run in? all of them?
  10. pretty much in the middle of the strike zone, haha.
  11. nice to hear that kevin encarnacion is playing. i think he may have been playing a little bit in the fall last year, but he's still a guy to root for because of what he went through with the car accident.
  12. well that was definitely not a strike to baxter.
  13. hawk and those cardinals announcers would be totally griping about upton hollywooding that home run for a couple of seconds.
  14. i like this guy better than travis wood.
  15. and then loria gets run over by a cement mixer.
  16. soler's ops is barely above .700. barf.
  17. nice to see starlin hit the ball hard. if barmes had thrown home, he probably would've gotten bryant, but i wonder if bryant would've just turned around and run back to third.
  18. it's morning here. i had "sultana bran" and raspberry "yoghurt" for breakfast.
  19. optimism is not high. one of the top slider pitchers in the game - and a guy who throws his slider more frequently than pretty much anybody - against a lineup that struggles against good breaking pitches. i predict a low-scoring game won by the padres, maybe 3-1.
  20. i get annoyed at how well jhonny peralta is playing for the cardinals, because he seems like the kind of guy who would turn into an old man who can't play any more within about 10 minutes of signing a contract with the cubs.
  21. starlin does not seem to be hitting well enough to bat 4th in this lineup.
