no, all of the balls in his at bat were pretty solidly outside the strike zone. he's really going to have to do better on pitches like the ones he popped to right, if he wants to avoid the shuttle to iowa.

there is literally no reason to throw a fastball down the middle to a pitcher on an 0-2 count.

i keep feeling enticed by the idea that he could be a good reliever since he throws hard, but then i remember that his fastball is straight as an arrow and his command is lousy.

why? the pitcher doesn't want to fall behind 3-0 so you figure to get a pitch in the strike zone that you can drive in that situation. Was that the pitch to drive? 2-0 with the bases loaded I'd just like a patient approach. you can fault the swing if the pitch was borderline, but there's no reason to just stand there and take a meatball on a 2-0 count. mccutchen showed why in the 8th inning.

So deal with, like, 3 pitchers. Not sure what screaming at the entire team is supposed to do. i'm also not sure what is accomplished by screaming at a few relievers who already know they pitched like garbage.

Why? What did "the team" do? The team was pretty damn great outside of some skanky relievers. Did you miss Hendricks' line? in his bad inning he gave up two infield hits, a line drive hit, a fly ball hit, then the reliever who came in for him was awful. he struck out 7 and walked only 1. really he didn't pitch that badly.
