  1. i had 3 on oregon, which was big. if russell wilson hadn't gotten hurt i'd be whooping some serious ass. as it is, i'm at 217 points (12-5 overall) and leading both the things i'm in, with a max possible score of 515.
  2. friggin russell wilson, if he hadn't gotten hurt nc state wins that game and a lot of people blow a lot of high-confidence picks on rutgers.
  3. well he's way more accurate and doesn't piss the ball away consistently, so i'd say yes and it's not even close.
  4. i still don't understand the boner that the computer rankings have for northwestern. their strength of schedule is terrible, they've beaten a bunch of very bad teams, a not-terrible depaul team and a pretty good florida state team, and suffered close losses to a couple of good teams. they might be good, but i'm not sold. they'll play a lot of they'll play a lot of close games since they play one of the slowest styles in division i, but i think they may just end up like 6-12 with a bunch of close losses in conference.
  5. wrigley23 is every cliche of "angry typing guy" rolled up into a single adorable package. Now he can't be bothered to counter points against his arguments because he "has a life." it's always so entertaining when people you assume are 14 years old end up writing that they are 40 years old and have a wife and 2 kids. it just blows my mind that someone that age can have so little perspective about the game. by the way, is message board hero similar to guitar hero?
  6. have you paid attention to the way the nfl works? nobody loses 5-10 years in a row unless they are completely dysfunctional in the front office (cardinals, raiders). hell even the raiders were in a super bowl not that long ago. people were saying the falcons were going to be a disaster for years after their star qb ended up in jail and their head coach ran out on them, and they're back in the playoffs a year later.
  7. it's a plain vanilla team because the players are plain vanilla. i guess every now and then a team comes along like the dolphins and throws in a bunch of trick plays that work for a while, but most teams win on talent, not gimmicks. the skill position players on the bears' offense are kyle orton, matt forte, rashied davis, brandon lloyd and devin hester. that's a lousy quarterback, a rb who is solid but not a game-breaker, two receivers who might not even be acceptable options as a #2 wr, and a converted cornerback who is a deep threat but is still very raw. there's not a lot there that scares anybody, and to keep other teams off balance it really helps to have at least one player who is a huge threat that you can use as a decoy.
  8. Pam Ward was calling it, so I'd say yes i didn't know that. it's official, worst bowl game in history.
  9. everyone and their mother is trying to get cowher as coach. if the bears were interested in him it would have to be very behind-the-scenes, unless they were to can lovie before going after cowher. i don't think you fire lovie because if you do, you'd better be sure that you're getting a better coach to replace him. that might not be hard if your current head coach is norv turner or wade phillips, but lovie smith is not a bad coach.
  10. Very true, very true. Actually, I saw on ESPN yesterday that Favre wasn't exactly thrilled with playing under Mangini. i wonder how thrilled mangini was to have a veteran quarterback putting up a qb rating in the bottom third of the nfl and throwing 4 more INTs than anyone in the league.
  11. don't laugh at lipscomb, they have wins over solid teams like oakland city college, southeast louisiana, siu-edwardsville and north florida.
  12. ok i know everyone hates spelling-sticklers but this is just terrible. ceiling: babe ruth bat crossed with ozzie smith's glove floor: the kid on my little league team when i was 10 who got 1 hit the entire year
  13. so a 7-5 team from a non-bcs conference played a 6-6 team from a non-bcs conference on an exciting final day of the nfl season, and the game had a total of 27 points scored. most uninteresting and irrelevant bowl game in history?
  14. the video cuts off before the end, but the punt ended up being 91 yards.
  15. no, wasn't aware of that, thanks for the clarification.
  16. I can't see the Ravens winning three straight games on the road in the playoffs. They'll be favored over Miami but I don't think they'll beat Tennessee and if they win that one they'll likely get either Pittsburgh or Indy in the next round. I'm leaning towards a Manning-Manning Super Bowl right now. you do know that would mean that the colts won 3 straight road games?
  17. super-early lines on next weekend's games: Falcons (-1) @ Cardinals (O/U 50.5) Colts (pk) @ Chargers (O/U 49) Baltimore (-3) @ Dolphins (O/U 37) Eagles (-3) @ Vikings (O/U 41.5) could have 4 road favorites by kickoff.
  18. There aren't any Detroit fans til the 2nd round of the playoffs ;) Wait a minute...actually there is some truth to this...of course there was no thing as a Blackhawk fan until this year You see, this is just trolling. Blackhawks has always had fans, Bill Wirtz was the reason why most stopped following the Hawks. Just because Bill Wirtz basically killed hockey in Chicago from the early 90s to 2006, doesn't mean there weren't Hawks fans. also, 26 more games and you guys will tie the flyers' record unbeaten streak. Now Red Wings fans are like Braves fans. that has a lot more to do with the michigan economy being completely in the toilet than it does with red wings fans not giving a crap any more.
  19. i think the biggest problem with the cowboys is that the type of team they've built can't work with the type of coach they have. there are a lot of strong personalities on that club, personally i think too many divisive personalities who are more concerned with their image and paycheck than the success of the team. but when you have built a team like that, you need a strong coach to keep them in check. wade phillips is a pushover, a player's coach who has no discipline and lets the inmates run the asylum. if the folks in the asylum are too crazy, and you don't have much leadership, that's a recipe for disaster. when your coach is being overruled by your quarterback, that has to be the end of the line for the coach. and jerry jones really needs to learn that building an all-star team is not the way to win in the nfl. the trade for roy williams was a flop, at least as far as this year goes, and pacman jones is a million dollar athlete with a 10 cent head. why on earth would you be wriggling for more yards with 5 seconds to go when the next play is just going to be your qb taking a knee? lastly, tony romo needs to learn some things too. everyone talks about improvising like it's a great thing, but a lot of his improvising leads to turnovers and unnecessarily risky throws. he's certainly talented, but he needs to learn when to take a loss or throw an incomplete pass and move on to the next play. he also needs to be more sound when facing a pass rush, like not fading away and throwing a sure-fire INT like he did in the first half.
  20. give bradley a 2-year contract... 25 bucks this year and 20 million in 2010.
  21. as long as the panthers don't use their franchise tag on chris gamble they'll definitely slap it on peppers. i can't imagine a scenario in which they let him walk. terrell suggs is a really good pass rusher who may end up on the free agent market. at least i think he's less of a pipe dream than peppers.
  22. also a one point win, so essentially a tie.
