  1. i still can't figure out what penn state's game plan was coming into this game. battle and pringle are quicker than anybody on iowa, and cornley is better down low then anybody on iowa. so let's shoot more threes than any game we've played this year.
  2. judging by what i've seen tonight, jake kelly never misses a shot and iowa is shooting 100% from the free throw line for the season.
  3. well the terrible calls are going iowa's way now. see, it evened out! that's pretty much what you have to hope for in a game involving ed hightower. you know the officiating is going to be horrendous, you just have to hope that both teams get screwed equally.
  4. hey keep tossing up bricks from behind the arc, that'll narrow the gap
  5. he gets that treatment against most teams, but that's more because he's stronger than everyone. not that it does him any good since he's a bricklayer at the free throw line. that's not exactly what happened but it should've been a no call. I think it's fairly accurate. He was leaning and they were both in contact with each other. Then Pringle threw a shoulder and hip into him and knocked Davis to the floor. Yet Jermain gets the foul? That was an awful call and an automatic two. the iowa guy reached in and held pringle back after poking the ball away - a call would've actually made sense there. after that it was just a loose ball. it was an awful call but it really shouldn't have been called a foul either way. they're calling everything too close once again, which is obvious when the whistle blows and everyone is looking around trying to figure out what the hell the call is.

  7. boy penn state is playing great, shooting 25% from the field and missing two front ends of one-and-ones. losing at home to iowa is definitely a "bad loss."
  8. virginia sucks. they have 16 points at halftime on 3-22 shooting. 3 field goals at halftime... awesome.
  9. he was like 18 and 11 months or 19 and 0 months, it really doesn't matter.
  10. i'm not exactly sure what fair value for cedeno is. probably a few coupons to mcdonald's.
  11. perhaps with the bad economy people have decided to cut obscenely-overpriced athletic wear out of their lives. Under Armour first came out they pretty much had the "market" to themselves with that line of clothing. Now "Nike" is pretty much worn through-out the clubhouses. As previously stated by somebody else, I to had some under armour shirts and they were terrible after a few washes. i didn't know anything about the bad quality. i wanted to get some of those tight but breathable shirts for hiking and biking this winter, and went to dick's sporting goods. the under armour shirts were like $40, but there were reebok shirts for basically half the price so i just bought those.
  12. holy cross just beat american, who's supposed to be the best team in the patriot league. we suffered a narrow loss at navy on wednesday. we should have a pretty good chance in the PL tourney, mostly because the PL really sucks this year.
  13. the problem is that sheets is hurt NOW. if he had a mostly-healthy 2008 then he would've cashed in big-time.
  14. i don't live near chicago and probably won't make it to wrigley more than a half dozen times in my life, so i don't care if they gouge you guys as long as they're rolling the money into the big club and player development.
  15. i'll be spending this first half of this one like i spend most super bowls - coaching special olympics swimming. the only time i actually gave enough of a crap to watch the whole game was when the eagles played the patriots. usually i find a super bowl party to watch the second half, though, since practice is over by 8.
  16. perhaps with the bad economy people have decided to cut obscenely-overpriced athletic wear out of their lives.
  17. yeah slowly but surely we have gone from "boy there are too many good teams not getting to play in bowls" to "how on earth did we end up with a northern illinois-louisiana tech bowl game?"
  18. you have to understand how cold minnesota winters are. when normal lows have been near zero for a month, going to a ballgame when it's 40 outside is really no big deal. plus these are hearty people, i'm pretty sure they know how to dress so that they don't get frostbite while spending three hours outside.
  19. yeah they should stay away from those potential trap games against northeastern and lipscomb
  20. yeah i'd say that the inclusions of clemson and byu are the stupidest ones on that list. clemson has won 1 national championship in over 100 years and is a good but not great program these days. byu also has only 1 national championship and while they're very good for a non-bcs program, i don't think they have all that much history.
  21. washington does have some history and so does ole miss, though i'm not sure that anyone cares they uw was great 20 years ago or ole miss was great 50 years ago.
  22. nebraska is top 5 about 10 years ago... sure as hell not these days.
  23. nobody follows the NIT closely. except perhaps michigan fans.
