  1. if you're counting really poorly hit balls that turn into hits, the count has reached 2 for the cardinals.
  2. ugh victorino drilled one right at barmes.
  3. i'm pretty sure they won't play in that. opening week they've had "cold outs" with the temperature in the 30s.
  4. B....b....but we might find someone worse!!! give it a rest.
  5. right except dempster is a pitcher with power stuff whose peripherals actually supported that he was really good last year. wolf is a soft-tosser (those types of guys normally struggle in the playoffs) whose numbers are a BABIP mirage.
  6. hgh doesn't do you any good if you don't swing, buddy.
  7. i didn't really think they'd win randy wolf versus chris carpenter. why is mitchell boggs on the postseason roster? was there something about his 1.8 WHIP that inspired confidence? generally you don't use a postseason roster spot on a mop up reliever.
  8. agreed, which is why he's being suspended from playing football instead of going to jail for a long time. what punishment do you think is appropriate for lying to the ncaa?
  9. It gets better. Joe Torre will be going with Vicente Padilla for game 3. what a joke. it's like he's actively trying to lose the series.
  10. thankfully the dodgers may survive the awful decision to pitch randy wolf in game one.
  11. i have a hard time feeling bad for a guy who lied to the NCAA. he pretty much made his own bed here.
  12. i feel like these teams play every damn year in the playoffs.
  13. mauer should and will win it. but jeter winning it wouldn't be near the tragedy you're making it out to be. agreed. i don't like the yankees at all but jeter has been outstanding this season, and if he wins it over mauer, i'll just consider that an evening of the score from when morneau undeservedly beat out jeter in 2006. i think jeter's career has taken a path where he was really overrated because of the rings, batting average, leadership crap and the announcer ass-kissing of him, and people overlooked his lousy defense. then most people realized that his defense sucked and he had a couple of down years, to the point where now i feel like he's underrated. he's not the best player in the game but he's really damn good and has been for 15 years.
  14. for the sake of perspective, the left side of the yankees infield and the yankees starting pitcher are making about $4 million more than the twins entire roster (and that's not even considering that sabathia's contract goes up by $9M per year after this season).
  15. the last two years i understood him falling apart in the playoffs, because his teams rode him really hard down the stretch and pitched him on short rest trying to make the playoffs. but the yankees have been pretty judicious with his pitch counts and there's really no reason that he'd be any more gassed than a front line starter on any other team. if he stinks this year it might just be an indication that he's a fatass who doesn't get himself in good enough shape to pitch well at the end of a long season.
  16. hopefully the collective will of all baseball fans around the world (except for yankees fans) can propel the twins to victory.
  17. i didn't feel like aaron miles hit 20 line drives total. perhaps it's just the naked eye betraying me, but i never really felt like he was getting robbed by great defense or hitting the ball right at guys. he just seemed to make weak contact all the time.
  18. yeah it doesn't matter what kind of connection you have, animated stuff is going to slow things down, even if you have a great connection and don't really notice it. i have to agree with IMB's assessment of cubbiebum's avatar.
  19. yes he has been banned. i'd like to think there are other people on this board who are passionate about hockey but also emotionally stable.
